This is a problematic headline. And ultimately can be dangerous.

The wording makes it sound like this was the position of Jewish groups, whereas in truth opinions were diverse.

This gives credence to these groups as if they speak for the Jewish community as a whole. They don't.

Being able to communicate verbally is an important skill, sure, but it is only one skill.

Autistic people (and autistic children) deserve to be able to learn and develop multiple skills and particularly skills they value.

We need to stop prioritizing being verbal over everything else
