My two cents - I commute to work by bus.

I used to think liver was 肝, but then during one company party, I ordered breaded liver, and upon asking what I was eating, my colleague was told by our interpreter it was レバー. So yeah.

Earlier this year, Dr. Jane Goodall sat down for an interview for Brad Falchuk’s new Netflix series, Famous Last Words.

The premise of the series is to interview people on the condition that the interview not air until the subject has passed away.

How great, that he's working with musicians as well.

So yeah, this was the "brief" overview of what I personally think went wrong.

Also - we have many senior folks in here, and these form the solid base of the ANO voters.
I don't want to imply in any way that all of them are like that, but many of them only care about what they can get w/o thinking of generations to come. (The "Po nás potopa/After us, a flood" effect.)

Last but not least, ANO loves to raise benefits/give ppl special ones, regardless whether our budget can handle it.
They want to give out money like they print it themselves while also lowering taxes, which is a road to hell.
But people only see A and not B.

ANO and the previous governments only talked about that without ever lifting a finger. Because they knew it would lose them political points.

Another point – SPOLU actually had the balls to come up with a pension reform, which was going to hurt everyone, but which was needed lest the entire pension system would collapse. It means raising the age of retirement to 67 and lowering valorisation, among others.

The funny thing is – Agrofert holding, maybe the biggest food (etc.) conglomerate in here, is owned by Babiš, the head of ANO. So Babiš is blaming SPOLU for the high prices that HE could’ve lowered; if he wanted.

ANO and the rest of the opposition also blamed SPOLU for that, which is dumb, as we have a free market, and the government can do little about the prices. (Hungary tried to put a ceiling on them – it went badly.)

As for the inflation – ours was one of the highest in the EU, which raised the prices of literally everything, esp. food & living costs. (It was actually kick-started by the ANO regime around the time of the pandemic, and SPOLU was hit by its brunt before taking measures to diminish it.)

The prices of electricity & gas spiked to a ridiculous degree, which worsened our already rising inflation. Czechia not being in the eurozone was another factor.
This produced a bad mood overall & people tended to blame SPOLU. And ANO (still sore abt their lost elections) only fanned these flames.

When SPOLU introduced their program before the previous elections, they had certain points in there, like not raising taxes etc.

That was in 2021.

But then 2022 came, specifically the 24th of February = The beginning of the War in Ukraine.
This threw a monkey wrench into everything.

I haven’t studied political science or sociology, so take my words with a grain of salt.

But I believe what happened is - people concentrate on effects without bothering to think about the causes. (Which is not to say SPOLU, the current government, didn’t make mistakes; not at all.)
