Unless by some miracle I get a windfall of money large enough to pay for a home flat out without any financing, I don't anticipate homeownership ever happening for me.

And still the idea buying a house, even just for me, is entirely too daunting to consider in terms of time and energy, much less financially.

The irony of that is I don't even have anyone else to consider in this equation anymore. My ex lives with her boyfriend, my son is living on the same property with them and even if he wasn't he's an adult now himself.

and the secondhand knowledge of the challenges that imposes has really snuffed the majority of my desire to own a home. And now, at this late in life, not even knowing where I want to live and whether it's worth settling down permanently to single location makes the prospect even less enticing.

My brother and sister, respectively 10 and 7 years younger than me, both managed to buy houses before they were in their 40's. I'm 51 and I've never even been able to seriously house hunt. My ex even managed to buy a house after we split...

I can't speak for anyone else, but I feel that the worst part of executive dysfunction is that it almost always whose up in relation to things that I absolutely should and sometimes even need to be doing, and the more urgent the that requirement, the stronger my executive dysfunction shuts me down.

I recommend a trebuchet. Catapult or even ballista in a pinch, but for sheer distance, accept no substitute.

The persistent concern that if I expire unexpectedly, the only gap that will be left in the world are the bills I leave that will suddenly stop being paid and barely noticeable halt of my reply-guy activity to the plethora of accounts that are already inundated with that sort of interaction.

Seems tangentially related, but a lot of men who define themselves as progressive seem only interested in the part where women are sexually progressive...but seem to get all prickly when that progression expands outside the bedroom.

I admit I don't have all the details, but this smacks of "I left something with you so I would have internal justification to contact and badger you about it"...only they forgot which person they actually left the thing in question with and are now accosting the wrong person altogether.
