The map stretches from king county all through the I- 5 corridor into Oregon. It says thereβs potential for tornadoes, hail and wind.
A severe thunderstorm watch is now in effect for portions of Oregon and Washington. #wawx
Remember, a watch means all of the ingredients for this thunderstorm is here but it has not yet arrived.
(A warning means itβs here. People use tacos and cookies as examples here all the time).

Text on an infographic reads: Remembering the February 28th, 2001, Magnitude 6.8 Nisqually Earthquake. What do you remember about th quake? What have you done to prepare for earthquakes since then?"
USGS "ShakeMap" showing Shaking patterns from the Nisqually earthquake, where warm (orange and Yellow Colors) represent stronger Shaking, and greens represent light shaking, mostly further away from the focused point over Nisqually, Washington, near Olympia.
Today marks 24 years since the Nisqually #Earthquake. This was Washingtonβs most recent damaging earthquake. Today, letβs remember this event, and think about what we have done to be more prepared for future earthquakes.
𧡠Weβll share some memories from WA EMD staff β please reply with yours!

I worked at a newspaper in Aberdeen and post storm in 2007, we were out of power and had to use a printing press in Olympia and then folks had to navigate logging roads to get the paper back and delivered. Today, neither printing press exists anymore.
