What happened to Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez Immigration agents shot and killed an unarmed 38-year-old father outside Chicago on Friday—and their initial narrative of events was quickly disproven by videos captured by witnesses.

Hard to watch: @newsweek.com posted footage of masked ICE agents arresting 50-year-old grandmother Angela Gonzalez, who'd been here since she was 11. She had a pending VAWA application, but other than that, had no options for a green card since she got here too late for the Reagan amnesty.

The INS oversaw all the functions of USCIS, ICE & CBP, combined, before 2003. This includes every single deportation from 1940 to 2003 & all migrant deaths along the US/Mexico border in that time, amongst other atrocities.

Sorry, that is patently false. Your original point's a good one, & really undermined by a complete misrepresentation of immigration admin & enforcement pre-9/11 era.

One way to think about it:

The fundamental difference between being an immigrant and being a US citizen is that immigrants can be arrested, detained and deported for civil violations of immigration law.

Deportation is not a criminal penalty, it is a civil remedy for the civil violation.

And, it's not a choice between one or the other. Filing a criminal complaint is done by a prosecutor, not a private practice attorney. It's like saying, if I have carpal tunnel, then why isn't my physical therapist performing surgery on my wrist?

Again, there are 40 men currently on federal death row, a number of whom will certainly be executed under Trump, whose sentences Biden has the power to commute.

Make sure he knows they're waiting to hear from him, too.

Think about this: If you're the president, you have the power to FREE NEARLY EVERYONE IN FEDERAL PRISON.

The fact that Biden has so far granted only 25 pardons and 132 commutations, despite receiving thousands of clemency petitions (1,296 for pardons and 10,567 for commutations) is UNCONSCIONABLE.
