07.08.2025 18:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As best I can tell, NIAAA in all of 2025 has issued a total of three new R01s and zero new R21s. Do I have that right?
07.08.2025 16:55 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0Yeah... so as far as I can tell, NIAAA has *still* only issued a total of THREE new R01s in all of 2025. Not sure that my persistence is going to help me here...
07.08.2025 11:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Does anyone else close their office door so they can just eat their lunch like a goblin? Is it just me?
06.08.2025 16:17 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Adding that you can apparently also do this with your child, if they look enough like you. Ask us how we know π
06.08.2025 13:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0πββοΈ Haven't even gotten a JIT from NIAAA about my R01 that scored reasonably well last October.
04.08.2025 17:07 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I remember one year in the early 90s when every single male member of my extended family at different times slapped me on the butt. I was 12.

If you are buying something this summer or fall, this is a good document to look at regardless, so you know what kind of due diligence is required to request the tariff waiver.
Is it Philly Elmo?
29.07.2025 15:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Some journals are claiming that you need to pay big $$ for gold open access to comply with NIH's new public access policy. FYI that is total bs. You can comply by depositing the Accepted Manuscript into PubMed Central on the Date of Publication without embargo. Pass it on.
26.07.2025 00:52 β π 120 π 66 π¬ 6 π 4Congrats on the NoA! They're not yet in RePORTER, so it's great to hear it from the source.
25.07.2025 22:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Care to expand on the "starting to get new awards out the door" statement? That's more information than I had right now...
25.07.2025 21:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I found it. I found the end of the rainbow.
18.07.2025 02:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Presumably this excludes non-competing renewals, right? Because they don't go to Council?
17.07.2025 17:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This has always been my response when people say they object to animal research. Treatment of food animals is often far from humane.
08.07.2025 16:58 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thank you for the to-the-point summary. Appreciate you, Abby.

28.06.2025 13:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I just came from a (new to me) meeting like this. It felt like I was a grad student in the 2000s all over again

Really pulling for a "Posters in PJs" session if we get to have an #RSA_ISBRA2025 next year. Let's make it happen!
25.06.2025 11:46 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Immensely proud of Brody Carpenter for his Gordis talk at #RSA_ISBRA2025

The kid who won the Science Fair this year clearly just fully copied my son's experiment from last year's Science Fair, and I never thought I could be this angry at a 4th grader.

17.05.2025 00:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hey reviewers:
If you're going to make multiple, factually incorrect statements about something you're reviewing, can you at least not be mean about it? We're all running a little thin these days...
