I am doing a book study in our PLC with the aim of laying the foundation for more thinking about *theory*, but I confess that the book very much eludes any deep historical analysis, which is fair because I think the practical impact builds buy-in to going deeper… but that’s exactly the tension…

This is definitely a question we should sit with more, but I think a major (underrated?) challenge is that everyone comes in with entrenched preconceived notions of the profession based on their *own* schooling — interrogating those is essential to being open to developing a historical mindset.

It was already evident from his recent writing that he has no moral compass. But I didn’t expect his repeated rejection of historical context, epitomized by this moment.

I was telling someone this just a couple weeks ago: Klein is every smug, entitled dude in grad school who has been told their entire life that their ideas are amazing because they’re theirs … and shows up to class trying to argue with you without having completed the assigned reading. Infuriating.

The strongest part of the monologue to me: it’s not about one comedian, one show, or one comment.

It’s fundamentally about how fascism impacts everyday people who we may never know and never seek to be known.

It’s about how we believe a government of the people should enable humanity to thrive.
