February always seems to invite a little extra romance reading. And it still makes me laugh that I never picked up romance novels before Unabridged.Β Iβm looking back at a handful of romance reviews from the blog.

Here are all of this year's Youth Media Award winners and honorees. What a great day to celebrate something, and how nice that it is youth literature.

14.01.2026 22:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Once again, it's time to reflect on my year of reading. Here are my stats. (I did more reflection over at our newsletter for @unabridgedpod.)
Total books read - 359
Fiction - 81.06%
Nonfiction - 18.11%
Poetry - 1.95%
Drama - 0.84%
What's on my January TBR? Well, I'm trying to put a dent in the Tournament of Books shortlist before the competition begins in March, so I've divided up those books between January and February. Here are just a few I hope to read in January.
02.01.2026 22:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I wanted to share two of the books that made my "best of" list for the second half of the year (over at unabridgedpod.com!) Fire Exit was the first book I finished in December, and I immediately devoured Night of the Living Rez. Morgan Talty is an author you must add to your list.
30.12.2025 22:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm planning to do the #26backlistin2026 challenge again because it always gives me the push I need to resist the new and shiny and pick up some backlist books. (The books in the challenge are on the top shelf!)
Are you participating in any challenges in 2026?
At the National Book Festival again! Loved the Geraldine Brooks session. Sheβs so wise and so thoughtful
06.09.2025 15:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I debated writing this. It can feel tempting, upon encountering yet another instance of this administrationβs racism, to let it be. How many ways can you say the same thing over and over again? And yet we have to write it down, if for nothing else, so those who come after us know we were against it.

This first post feels momentous, so Iβm relying on what feels comfortable: every weekend, for Unabridged Podcast, I share what Iβm reading and ask what youβre reading, too.
This weekend, Iβm reading Funeral Songs for Dying Girls, our buddy read pick for November.
What are you reading this weekend?
