I just want to say for the record that when the history books are written centuries from now, I believe the election of Donald Trump in a free and fair election in 2024 will go down as one of the most senseless and self-destructive own goals in human history

Coda: the screen protector was probably great, but I ripped it off 3 hours later. I don't know how people live with these things.

Coda 2: I probably need a new case huh.

"Oh... turn off auto brightness, it just burns your battery."

_Now_ I get sus. A bit too late unfortunately.

Yeah, I can tell why this is less than 1/3rd the price. I wasn't expecting genuine part for that much, but woof is it like I've downgraded my phone. And now I'm $170 out :(

I ask the guy how come he's so much cheaper. He seems surprised others are so much more, tells me for a 2 year old phone it has come down in price as there's less demand for it (ok...)

30 min later, job done. He's even thrown in a screen protector.

I can't get to an Apple Store in a practical time, and don't have a drawer phone to send it in for repair. Went to look at alternatives online... most of them around the $350-400 mark. Ok guess that's the benchmark.

Went to my local phone repair place - $170?!

Cracked my iPhone screen. It's been a good run, the kids have been throwing it around and I'm surprised it took this long. First time since I dropped my iPhone 6 on day 1 of owning it.

Looked at Apple replacement cost... $545 without AppleCare, oof.

The problem with this is that it ends up perpetuating the wrong word and then we get to the literally situation.

Dear Editor I hope you know better that the word should be rapt not wrapped. I know few people accentuate the T and so it ends up sounding like wrapped, but unless it was a text quote (in which case put a sic in there), at least transcribe it correctly.

Climate target malpractice As the Albanese government prepares to announce Australia’s 2035 climate target, pressure is mounting to show greater ambition. A cut in greenhouse gas emissions of at least 75 per cent below 2005 lev...

β€œAustralia’s approach to emissions accounting is greenwash in real time. Modelled carbon β€œremovals” from natural ecosystems enable the government to approve new coal and gas projects while still claiming that emissions are falling,” Polly Hemming in the Saturday Paper

I wrote this blog to vaccinate my friends against the climate denier lie that we’ve spent billions on renewable energy but achieved nothing.

Every Scientific Empire Comes to an End America’s run as the premiere techno-superpower may be over.

I sure hope someone in government here in Australia takes a look at this - it could be a seriously good way to boost our long-term productivity #auspol www.theatlantic.com/science/arch...

Also, remember back when the lifetime health cover was introduced only around half of health insurance had excess or co-payments. Now it is nearly 90%.

Private health insurance is a dud, the benefits the rich and by being GST-free diverts revenue away from the public health system

My sense is the govt will set a 55% cut target by 2035. Why? Because that means they just extend the 47% cut by 2030 trend.

Alas, it is nowhere near the minimum of what the science says is needed.

So remember: 55% by 2035 is NOT more ambitious

Do you mean the M disc standard? That didn't come til late 2000s.

I think only saving CD/DVD was the ones with the printable labels, since they had a thicker top layer.

In relation to the Gaza atrocities, the ALP has taken real action - sanctions - against only two people: Fatima Payman and Mehreen Faruqi.

The First Planned Migration of an Entire Country Is Underway The Pacific island nation of Tuvalu could be submerged in 25 years due to rising sea levels, so a plan is being implemented to relocate its population to Australia.

The first planned migration of an entire country due to climate change is happening! Tuvalu, a Pacific island nation, is at risk of being submerged under rising sea level, so it has signed an agreement with Australia to allow 280 Tuvaluans to settle in Australia as permanent residents each year.
