The biggest take away from Trump’s latest hissy fit is that Bill C2/C12 were tabled under the guise of trade negotiations and there is no reason in the world now to pass them. This is just an authoritarian power grab from Carney, one we won’t recover from.

Continue to call & write your MPs about voting against Bill C2/C12 & C9 which are clear violations of our Charter rights. #cdnpoli

Doug Ford blows up 9 months of trade negotiations. There is absolutely no need now for Bill C2 or C12 because @mark-carney.bsky.social tabled them to appease. And no one should be supporting those authoritarian bill. #cdnpoli

Canada Do Not Become like Amer1c@:

Bill C-2 & Bill C-12 would allow the Canadian government & law, for U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) to access Canadians' personal info, including data from social media, with low threshold of suspicion & potentially w/o a warrant in some cases.

Pressure from the U.S : Some sources suggest that these legislative packages were introduced, in part, to align Canadian practices with U.S. demands regarding border security and data sharing, particularly during trade negotiations or to appease U.S. administrations.

Lack of Transparency: Critics point out that many details of how these new powers will be implemented are left to be defined by future regulations, rather than being explicitly written into the legislation, which raises concerns about a lack of parliamentary scrutiny and transparency.

30.10.2025 21:03 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

extreme lack of Due Process: Allows the government to cancel immigration documents or applications for entire groups of people based on a broad, without individualized assessment or a proper right to appeal. This broad, unchecked executive power is a central problem similar to Patriot Act.

also:

-Information Sharing: these bills allow for the Canadian government's ability to share personal and immigration information with domestic and foreign governments, including U.S. enforcement agencies like ICE

Bill C-2 would allow law enforcement & intel agencies (CSIS) to access basic personal info from telecommunication companies without a warrant & can obtain data like browsing history ("reasonable suspicion" instead of "reasonable belief"). Similar to the Patriot Act in U.S.

Numerous civil liberties privacy organizations in Canada have drawn parallels between certain provisions in Bills C-2 and C-12 and the U.S. Patriot Act, arguing that they grant sweeping powers to the government and law enforcement while eroding civil liberties and due process.

What happens if bill c2 and c12 get passed in Canada?

In England, under existing laws and the new Online Safety Act. Over 12,000 arrests were made in the past year for speech-related offenses, include arrests for political opinions, silent protests, & even reposting memes.

Listen to the video. This is what people have to do to get through algorithmic censorship.

With Meta, X, Tik Tok - we know only what they let us know. And AI has made their "thought police" capable of even reading that.

Maybe we'll have to bring back pig Latin or cursive to outwit AI censorship.

Seriously? Privacy advocates have been sounding the alarm since forever. Society’s response? Apathy.

Canada is a police state. In 2025, our cops have body cameras equipped with facial recognition technology.

Did you people 𝘸𝘒𝘯𝘡 Palantir? Because that’s how you get Palantir.

It’s too fucking late.

What We Can Learn From Superman Defeating the KKK My book Lessons in Magic and Disaster has been out for a week now, and I’ve been so thrilled with the response so far. Bookseller Rowan Julian with The Novel...

Back in 1946, the KKK was trying to make a major comeback after World War II.

Enter Superman β€” the Man of Steel exposed their secrets and took them down in his radio show.

I asked Rick Bowers, author of Superman vs the Ku Klux Klan, what we can learn from this today
