Eventually, I will likely just get it knowing that I can resell it, but I would like to do a test. I am really interested to see how good or clunky this might be.

I actually really like it, but I want to do better. When I bought it, I was already going down dual path to see if I could add features. The autofocus really is a very handy feature. There are ways around it, but I want to keep it in as well as have manual focus to work with.

I took a look and they no longer rent this version of the lens. They have the newer one with IS. That is overkill for the application I will be using it for.

I can get this lens for not super high price used, but this was more of a does it even work before I go that far. Math says it should work, but sometimes the first physical experiment shows it is not as great as tou thought it would be. I will check out the link and see what they would charge.

When I set out, I wanted auto focus and good macro. If this works, I might see what between my feeble coding skills and some vibe coding might be able to do to build out something that can do auto focus stacking and calibrated measurements.

I know, I was reading that Nikon has a really nice macro lens with a good working distance and a 2:1 reproduction ratio. I am hoping that I might be able to make a nice system with this setup, but I want to test before I buy a lens.

Any of my Cincy friends have a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens that I could borrow?

Will be used indoors under very controlled conditions. I want to see how it will work as a digital microscope lens when paired with a Pinefeat adaptor to the RasPi High Quality Camera sensor.

New digital microscope came today. First look is at a tiny encoder that I cut on my laser. The windows are .0027" (.07mm) nominal sized. Some things that immediately jump out are the surface oxides and potential remelted. This view gives me ideas on future process improvements.

My best places are in the shower, or when I take two weeks off at the end of the year and the ideas best flow between midnight and 4AM.

That is an interesting use of a mobility chair!

I have had the too many boxes for recycling as well as I have been putting together some AV racks for completely different purposes than AV.

Though it does not say that they cannot be used, maintained, or other active uses of them. (At least what you have posted here)

One of these days I really need to sit down and play with getting small screens working on micros. I have not had a real need to do it, only a curiosity. If I had a project that "needed" it, I am sure that would make it easier.

I am looking to get/build a small PC for my CNC router and resin printers. I may have to check this out.

For what I was doing, I was really happy with it. It is simple and it works well. There were some quirks when exporting in that when you wanted just one gear at a time, you need to hid all other gears except the one you want export. It is a minor quibble, though.

Using two tools to help me with holding the sheet metal and aligning it for the laser.

I might have to print a tpu gasket for it or something. I wonder if i can make it a dual material hatch with the tpu embedded into it?

The bearings are usually the first to take a hit, then the lamination of the stator. In my submarines, they are in a dry space. In this boat, not so much. WD40 might be the tool for the job after running it. It would actually be the most proper use of WF40.

There are a couple of places under a few miles away with ponds, so it should not be too bad to find a place.

Same motor as what you put in the boat. I figured I would ask to make sure that I have a baseline for something that will balance out properly.

The other thing that I plan on using this for is making custom heat sinks, rf shields, and a few other electronics/electro-mechanical items.

I used this tool. I may pull out @freecad.org if I want to make spokes in the gear to lighten it. Today's test was more about can the laser make gears this small, and what is the workflow to do it. Still need to play more, but I at least have a basis to start from.

I just got my motor in. Need to see if I have an RX around for this. What capacity battery did you put in it? Perhaps by this coming weekend I can have this built up and moving around.
