It's called A84 and is already making quite an impact, bumping into the Stange Ice Shelf over the weekend! These Copernicus Sentinel-1 images from Polar View show the new berg over the last few days.

EarthScope can maybe make payroll this week. A prolonged freeze could see stations fail.
As expected, the Trump team is already deleting climate info from government websites. In anticipation, our team at Urban Ocean Lab created a permanent archive of 100+ key resources and published a permanent archive: www.urbanoceanlab.org/resource-hub π©π½βπ»

Hello new followers! ππ»
Resharing this paper and inviting any earth scientists at #AGU24 this week to check out my totally different work on Greenland (#icesheetmodeling & #machinelearning) at the Wednesday morning poster session!
When/what are you presenting?
My win for today: fixed a computing environment so my code to figure out how thick the Greenland ice sheet is will run!

Ask me questions, especially about big ice!

You can reskeet this for wider uptake so we get a nice list!
Love this post and comments! I study ongoing changes in the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets, motivated by the dangers of climate change and sea level rise. tc.copernicus.org/articles/18/...
