The drop in crime since the early 1990s is an incredibly important story, but since it involves a trend over time, it's not as widely covered as a story involving a few big events. Moreover, as Judd Legum's piece shows, spikes in crime are covered while drops are often not.

We are ENDING the age cap for ICE law enforcement. Qualified candidates can now apply with no age limit.

And this tells you that they are lying about being overwhelmed with applicants. If they had record number of applicants, they wouldn’t need to ask retired agents to return or have to relax the maximum age restriction. Media will likely not even make this connection.
