NERC: We need to open up environmental science! Why is it not diverse?

Also NERC: We're scrapping Independent Research Fellowships, New Investigator Grants, Small Grants, are limiting applications from institutions based on past success rates and will only allow you to submit your proposal once.

Our Euro Cup hopes have petered out as a superb performance by Poland leads to us slipping to a 91 run defeat. We finish on 9 points, the same number as the tournament winners, but a little behind on Net Run Rate. Victories over Lithuania, Latvia, and Ukraine leave us proud.

The issue isn't whether or not it was announced promptly; it's whether it is a good idea and provides value for money for remote attendees.

@eageo.bsky.social not really doing a great job for their remote "presenters" - i.e. they aren't presenting, just putting a video together which will be buried on the conference website. No engagement with the in-person attendees, not even played during the oral session. Not worth the money.

04.06.2025 12:40 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I can understand wanting to avoid online live presentations as it can be a techincal nightmare, but pressing "play" on a piece of video software is not so difficult?

Wow - didn't realise this. Seems pretty bad that invited speakers won't even get their oral presentation videos played during the in-person session.
