Sometimes you have to make a point of arguing. Not to change the bigot's mind, because you won't.

You argue because you don't know who's listening, who's internalising, who's gauging their safety around you.

Make it clear that you're safe. Even if you don't know who you're being safe for.

A comic featuring my OC, Ulala. They are a shooting star in a humanoid form, made of stardust and plasma. Several panels of the comic feature them in various poses, arrows, and zinnias. Each panel has an intricate border, and each subject is featured on a grand, black background filled with stars. Around the border is a poem; "I politely refuse the meal, at first. I do want to say yes & partake in the meadow, join the worms in their soil homes or watch the bees swim in sweet pollen; but the truth remains that I can't hunger for harvest nor honey. I just see soft lights & vertical reflection - a meadow...? No!! A grand, black sea! Jet hydrogen, onyx helium, milky expanses... where I am a panacea! Where stalks of desperate hands reach out with their wishes, & drag me down."

a comic. a possum is rummaging around inside a trash can. It erupts from the can holding something in its paws. “hey!” she says. She holds out the desktop calendar. “Today is June 24th! Look!” She leans on the edge of the trash can. “that means today is make a terrible comic day!” She produces a ballpoint pen from the trash and clicks it. “the idea is to just make something! no rules, just enjoy the act of creation! (Or don’t and just do it anyway)” she is drawing on the cardboard back of the calendar. “tell a story, tell a joke, make something silly or sublime or totally abstract! make something and don’t stop making it until it’s made!” She holds up her little comic with pride. “tell your inner critic to ‘fuck off!’ make a terrible comic!”
