29.09.2025 07:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If pundits would like to talk about violence, a terrorist recently shot up the CDC and another assassinated Democratic officials in Minnesota but they sort of let both stories disappear
Not as threatening as motorbikes in DC I know but maybe we could circle back?
We do. But itโs free and covers conferences and workshops well
13.08.2025 07:42 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is a good and important suggestion - every major dataset housed in the US (which is a *lot* of great data) can be considered under threat right now. One way researchers and institutions elsewhere can help limit the harm is finding ways to mirror host/backup a lot of that data.

I added activity codes and award jurisdictions (see tabs for grant count and $ by each). Note this HHS list likely does not include all planned/completed terminations as of this date.๐จ Please use, share and distribute!

Read "Chaos in the Brickyard" (1963). It takes just 2 minutes. It's a 1-page letter in Science.
AI makes bricks. What we really need are edifices. Those come from people who choose only quality bricks to build their edifices.

08.03.2025 16:38 โ ๐ 194 ๐ 78 ๐ฌ 8 ๐ 2The image is a black-and-white political cartoon depicting a man in a suit standing behind a counter labeled "Republican Platform." He is holding a bottle labeled "Untaxed Whiskey, 20ยข Gal." in one hand and a piece of cloth labeled "War-Taxed Common Cloth, Tariff 84%" in the other. Above the counter, a sign reads, "If you donโt see what you want, ask for it." The cartoon, signed by W.A. Rogers, appears to satirize the Republican Party's economic policies, highlighting the disparity in taxation between luxury items like whiskey and essential goods like cloth.
In 1890, the Tariff Act came into place in the United States. It placed tariffs on imports of up to 50%.
While touted as a way to build American industry, there was also the hope it would force an annexation of Canada. It backfired.
Let's learn more.
