In presidential elections a single vote in North Dakota has about the same weight as three votes in California. CA has 54 electoral votes for 23,206,500 registered voters, or 429,750 voters per electoral vote. ND has 3 for 469k registered voters, or 156,300 per electoral vote. Not so fair…

Just finished “Baldwin: A Love Story” by Nicholas Boggs… five stars.

I know, it’s over 700 pages (but about 160 are pix, notes, index) but such an important work to recognize the genius of Baldwin, and how his real life was interwoven with his fiction and essays. Five stars!

I understand (believe me!). We uprooted our lives to move to a rural area to care for my parents, never expecting my mom would last so long…she passed just before the money from selling everything she owned ran out.

When my 101-year-old mom needed more care than we could provide, and then developed psychotic dementia, we found an amazing place for her with people who really cared…it helped that they knew I would visit every day at odd times, but still, they were saints to care for her in her condition.
