The Democrats' Path Forward: Become the Anti-Corruption Party But to reform the system they first need to reform the Democratic Party.

The Fed is independent of the President so they can make decisions for the long-term success of the economy. Makes sense. But how do they define "success"? Who wins & who loses in their successful economy? Does anyone know? Have we traded one controlling interest for another, less transparent, one?

Memo to Democratic officials: Action needed now. Like, today!

This has the advantage of being sound policy & politics. Most people aren't naturally sympathetic to wealthy corporations and would be glad to see the govt stick it to them IF it actually helps regular people in a tangible way. AND we also have to communicate what we are doing effectively. 4/end

There needs to be a cost for this political advocacy that goes beyond boycotts and other consumer action. Democrats need to make it clear to these businesses that there will be consequences in the form of stronger regulation and increased support of labor rights. 3/x (yeah, I thought of more to say)

Oh yeah, I remember now. Biden is a Democrat while Trump is a Republican. Corporations and the wealthy know who is on their side and most act accordingly. 2/2

Some corporations have said they are absorbing the higher costs that result from Trump's tariffs but they're not sure how long they can do so. I'd like to know why they didn't display this same community spirit when inflation drove costs up during Biden's administration. 1/2

It's possible that they knew it all along & always planned to ask for the funds once the bill passed. They can then release the funds selectively to reward loyal communities while punishing those they don't like.

There is so much wrong in the Democratic party right now. Instead of dealing with those problems, our leaders attack the Dem who won his primary in a landslide. I've been a Dem all my life but I wonder if our party is past saving. I'll NEVER be a Republican. But I feel disconnected from my party.

I'm intrigued by the discolored band in the top front of the saucer. It conforms to a specific set of panels. What is it about those panels that attracts that specific discoloration?

FFS. I watched the interview. That headline is 100% misleading as a description of what the man said. WTF, @nbcnews.com? Democracy dies in bullshit corporate news.

Agree but such a Democrat would would have to have the same high popularity within the party that Trump has with Republicans. Do you see any Dems with that potential?

Watched the #cbs Weekend News tonight. Not a single mention of yesterday's No Kings protests. Democracy dies in corporate news silence.

Lee's decision was complex. But it was also unusual. We need to remember that. The US Army regarded Lee as a traitor for a long time. I believe they had it right.

When Lee was a young man and his family faced financial ruin, many prominent Virginian families gave them financial support. Lee's loyalty to Virginia was tied up with his personal gratitude to those people.

The Lost Cause lie also maintains that Lee was opposed to slavery. That's not true. He believed slavery was the best relationship whites and blacks could have.

The idea that loyalty to state came before loyalty to nation was real. Despite what the Lost Cause lie would have you believe, however, it was not a universally held idea.

This is bad history. There were 8 Colonels from Virginia in the pre-Civil War US army. Robert E. Lee was one of them. Of those 8, only Lee resigned to join the Confederacy (after a brief stint in the Virginia state militia). The other 7 stayed true to their oaths and fought for the union.

This is the best idea I have heard yet. The "Joe Rogan of the left" idea is bad because influencers like Rogan aren't made in advance. They grow organically--I don't think Rogan consciencely set out to be a voice on the right and that's not what his fans wanted originally. It just evolved that way.
