It's possible that they knew it all along & always planned to ask for the funds once the bill passed. They can then release the funds selectively to reward loyal communities while punishing those they don't like.

There is so much wrong in the Democratic party right now. Instead of dealing with those problems, our leaders attack the Dem who won his primary in a landslide. I've been a Dem all my life but I wonder if our party is past saving. I'll NEVER be a Republican. But I feel disconnected from my party.

I'm intrigued by the discolored band in the top front of the saucer. It conforms to a specific set of panels. What is it about those panels that attracts that specific discoloration?

FFS. I watched the interview. That headline is 100% misleading as a description of what the man said. WTF, @nbcnews.com? Democracy dies in bullshit corporate news.

Agree but such a Democrat would would have to have the same high popularity within the party that Trump has with Republicans. Do you see any Dems with that potential?

Watched the #cbs Weekend News tonight. Not a single mention of yesterday's No Kings protests. Democracy dies in corporate news silence.

Lee's decision was complex. But it was also unusual. We need to remember that. The US Army regarded Lee as a traitor for a long time. I believe they had it right.

When Lee was a young man and his family faced financial ruin, many prominent Virginian families gave them financial support. Lee's loyalty to Virginia was tied up with his personal gratitude to those people.

The Lost Cause lie also maintains that Lee was opposed to slavery. That's not true. He believed slavery was the best relationship whites and blacks could have.

The idea that loyalty to state came before loyalty to nation was real. Despite what the Lost Cause lie would have you believe, however, it was not a universally held idea.

This is bad history. There were 8 Colonels from Virginia in the pre-Civil War US army. Robert E. Lee was one of them. Of those 8, only Lee resigned to join the Confederacy (after a brief stint in the Virginia state militia). The other 7 stayed true to their oaths and fought for the union.

This is the best idea I have heard yet. The "Joe Rogan of the left" idea is bad because influencers like Rogan aren't made in advance. They grow organically--I don't think Rogan consciencely set out to be a voice on the right and that's not what his fans wanted originally. It just evolved that way.

Is the showdown really with the President? Seems like it's really with the corporate owners of CBS.

"One of the most remarkable aspects of the Icelandic experience is the promotion of greater gender equality."

"The impact of the four-day week is not confined to the world of work. Icelanders report a significant improvement in their quality of life."

Iceland approved the 4-day workweek in 2019: nearly 6 years later, all the predictions made have come true. In 2019, Iceland made headlines by becoming one of the first countries in the world to adopt the four-day working week, not through a general law, but through agreements allowing workers to negotiate ...

"Icelandic reports show that productivity has remained stable, and even increased in some sectors... ...The reduction in stress, combined with a better work-life balance, has had a significant positive impact on employee well-being."

2/2 For Khalil, OTO, there is only a statement that he "carries a deep-seated animus toward Israel" with no specific examples. It's not "easy to understand how his brand of activism would make members of Columbia’s Jewish community uncomfortable"--there's no evidence supporting that understanding.
