Shoen Nakajima (1861-1901; aka Kishida Toshiko), was an orator who spent eight days in jail for a β€œpolitical speech without a permit” on the subject of women’s rights. She was also a teacher, poet, + writer before her untimely death from tuberculosis.

@tricyclemag.bsky.social Hi! As a subscriber, are PDF versions of the issue available? I don't want to read articles from a webpage.

Welp, @readjapaneseliterature.com, the thing I've been working on with others is public now, and I'd love to have you (and any of our onlookers) take a peek, maybe become a reader, maybe a contributor, or maybe just nod curiously: Dialogues of East Asia, a monthly APAzine: dialoguesofeastasia.com

Thanks! Will correct my notes. (Also: sent Ash an email with a longer version of potential errata, turn summaries, etc.). Current ETA is likely starting the group game next week, one journal entry per week for 10 weeks. Will let you know how it goes!

@crossedpaths.co.uk It seems page references in the PDF might be wrong too... on p.24, it talks about DEPTHS being on p.24 (when it's on p.26). Similarly, Basic Rules on 8 says "ITEM reward (pg.26)" but I'm thinking it should be pg.28? Also, same page, Combat is p.30, not 29. Etc.

@crossedpaths.co.uk Hello! In Brambletrek Core Rulebook, p.8, what does "Beating an opponent on the Red table" mean? I see no other mention of "Red table" (or, for that matter, "red"). Does it mean a Hearts event card? Thank you! (/me is planning a Discord-based group game.)

Yeah, perhaps, or… ergodic. Notable for being difficult. Re-saw an article yesterday about a book club that took 28 years to finish Finnegan’s Wake and got to wondering what East Asian book might require the same duration (excepting religious/enlightenment texts).
