With F1 in Singapore this weekend, I’m reminded that this time last year I had not been to Asia. I’ve now been FOUR times, including three trips to Singapore.

Knowing the city a bit now, I’ll be watching a little differently this year

I did regency -> T4. Would not hesitate to do it again. Only real “issue” was crossing Sepulveda, which has crosswalks and signals (but is still a 1000 lane road)

One flight today: AA2299 MSP-DCA on an A319. EXP comes through, upgraded at the gate to 1A.

N838AW will take us to DC. The gate over one way has an AA retro, the other way is an Aer Lingus A321XLR - cool stuff on the E concourse this evening.

And just like that, we’re back at the airport for about 25 hours of travel back to the states. Been an incredible trip.

So far smooth sailing through check-in, security, exit immigration and into the lounge here at DPS

Skyboss also gets a dedicated van at bus gates, so we were whisked away to arrival immigration well before the rest of the plane.

Absolutely 10/10 experience with Vietjet, on what my American brain considered a very reasonable fare for a 5-hour international flight

Then, just before arrival at DPS, a flight attendant came around with a special tray. Because this flight was within a few days of my birthday, I got to select a gift from Vietjet!

I chose a passport cover (other option was a keychain). Amazing personal touch that I’ll always remember from Vietjet.

I never properly wrapped this one, and it deserves it.

Relative to expectations, this is probably the best flight I’ve taken in my life

We got amenity kits (blanked and inflatable pillow!), pre-selected meal was tasty, proactive coffee/tea offering - really impressed with Skyboss service in flight

Time to fly! Flying Vietjet VJ997 HAN - DPS on a six year old A321neo.

Switched to the bulkhead row at check-in, so legroom is great. Also got an amenity kit, pre-departure water, and menu.

Another wonderful week in Hanoi comes to a close. Sad to be leaving Vietnam but I’m sure I’ll be back at some point.

Now it’s vacation time! Taking Vietjet down to Indonesia on a “skyboss” fare, mainly booked for the luggage allowance. The lounge access and priority was a nice surprise

Ithaca gets the third IAD flight in October! Hopefully hits the big afternoon bank @byerussell.com

Other carriers definitely have more storage options, mainly a cubby in the table. So the lack of storage was a choice 🤷‍♂️

Back to Hanoi I go! Flight 1 is QR708 IAD - DOH on A7-BED, the same aircraft I flew two months ago on this same flight, but now in a special PSG livery.

12 hours to Doha tonight, really looking forward to this flight.
