Here is a fatal flaw: the number of bills introduced should not be used as "a primary measure of legislative productivity." Ironically, it is not appropriate to use legislative effectiveness scores from the Center on Effective Lawmaking to measure legislative effectiveness b/c they don't measure it

How Axios rebranded conservative ideology as objectivity The biggest lie in media is the one that it tells about itself.

@juddlegum.bsky.social is a very, very sharp observer of media and politics.

Is Tom Homan Recruiting Proud Boys? Trump 'border czar' Tom Homan met with extremist-linked activist as Trump administration ramps up mass deportation agenda

Wanted to add this piece to the discussion. It appears to be a good, recent roundup of what’s publicly known regarding β€œborder czar” Homan’s contact with far-right groups and figures, specifically the Proud Boys.

One possibility: there’s a single credible source with the only accessible copy, who has achieved their goal and isn’t interested in pushing things forward just now.

Have you heard any speculation regarding the source? It isn’t a huge universe of suspects, is it?

The only other scenario I can imagine is that it implicates someone else who cld damage him in some way, and has vowed to do so if certain info comes out. Which seems overly complex and ignores the lengthy, intimate history betw the two men.

What does it even mean to say a fundamental, Constitutionally guaranteed right is β€œperipheral” to national interest? You could say the same thing about the First Amendment. In fact, many have and do.

Serialization, incrementalization, crowdsourcing - there are tools to adapt (and strengthen!) investigative reporting via newsletters/social media. But there is no fix for getting SLAPPed. Just good lawyers and money to pay them.

11.07.2025 11:09 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

As a career β€œvegetable” reporter and editor, I take issue with some of this. Investigations don’t have to be slow, or money losing, or result in massive articles.

TPM Muckraker was a model, as is Judd Legum’s Public Information, & Ken Klip.

What’s needed now: good lawyers, and money to pay them.
