Their goal was to disenfranchise trans people (who have changed their names) under the guise of preventing non-citizens from voting. They get a two-fer, though, because people who changed their names upon marriage (mostly women) will also be disenfranchised.

So if the name on your birth certificate doesn't match the name on your driver's license when you (re)register to vote, you are SOL, unless you have a proof of citizenship in your married name (i.e. a current passport).

This is a US federal law passed this year. In order to register to vote US states are now required to verify proof of identification and proof of citizenship. The names on these two proofs must be identical. Proof of legal name change is not required to be accepted.

Remember how they passed a law that will make it impossible for 70 million married women to register to vote unless they have a current passport? I remember.

Even Alito wouldn't rule to just nullify a constitutional amendment. What they CAN do is rule that women are not "people" and therefore not US citizens. Then, it doesn't matter what the 14th or 19th Amendments say, because first and foremost, only citizens have the right to vote.

He can use the responses to construct an unsecured database of who is working on what projects/policies across the government. He can then link that info to their personnel files, including their home addresses, dependents, etc. Should a private citizen have that much leverage with no oversight?

There's nothing ideological about it. The development of human sex genotypes and phenotypes is complicated and subject to all manner of influences. That's fine. The outcome SHOULD just be biology being its normally-distributed self without any moral or ideological bs attached.
