Received an email thanking me (& others) "for [our] reactivity" to a particular request, and I'm fighting the urge to reply, "Of course we're reactive, we're chemists!" 😂

Short version:
-Sister-in-law knits sweater for poster in beige Malabrigo yarn.
-OP, who loves sweater but doesn't wear beige, dyes it green and wears it regularly.
-SIL has a fit about "wasting her Malabrigo" on OP.

Congratulations on reaping the rewards of your hard work (and keeping all the fingies attached)!

The number of times I have been told to "just fix the chemistry" by people with no chemistry knowledge or experience is...greater than zero.

(But also don't change the product formulation, it's already locked in with customers 🙄)

Something about this really reminds me of chemical (and presumably other areas of scientific) R&D. A complicated mess of theory and practice, enmeshed with business and technology but not really driven by either. And harder to quantify when failure is one of the possible outcomes.

Waste of good brisket if you ask me, but I'm of the opinion that the best thing about Texas BBQ is it's just. good. meat. Sauce and all the other bits are optional and largely unnecessary accessories.

...except for the salted smoked potato. The potato can stay. >.>

I'm just on social media to shout into the void, and prefer to curate a void that either politely ignores me or occasionally shouts back in reasonably polite conversation.

When the void's overall vibe becomes unpleasant? Time to find a new void to shout in.

It's better than most "elastic" yarns I've worked with. The stretch is on par with a really springy wool and it's plied well enough that it's not splitty and the spin doesn't get dragged down the working yarn while knitting. On the heavier side of fingering weight, with less sheen than wool.

Meanwhile, the next draw from the sock project grab bag is...a little corny.

The purplish multicolor is Maizy, an 82% corn fiber yarn. It's basically the corn version of bamboo cellulose with added stretch nylon, but hey! Discontinued corn yarn!

What up, it's ya boi Second Sock Sunday! Coming to you this week in natural lighting...what a difference it makes compared to my desk light.

The point is that after ~20 years, you also get A HUMAN. Capable of love and whimsy and art and random acts of kindness that are fundamentally chaotic and illogical in a way that a machine could never truly understand.

And sometimes you also get weird defects like Altman who forgot the human part.

The angel food cakes I've bought at the grocery store all have a weird metallic aftertaste. You wouldn't think a box mix would be superior, but it really is! (The confetti probably helps...😆)

Birthday cakes when I was growing up were box confetti angel food cakes with cool whip (or whipped cream), and I still miss a good confetti angel food cake.

The fact that it was simple/easy isn't what makes the memory.
