played some IRL mahjong today with my pals and it was a blast (and I also won spectacularly)

I'm still super bitter about the episode itself but.... it was interesting to see animated Gundam get elements from this book, even if just tidbits of it, more specifically about the worldbuilding and to how Lalah's mind operate, in some level, in moments of this book.

As I watched today's episode, it was unavoidable to think about this novel

It's super interesting and made me like Lalah even more as a character, I highly recommend it to everyone who likes the original Gundam, even if they've never interacted with Tomino's literary work directly before

i just hope they bring up something more interesting than just nostalgia wanking. I know these guys can do better than that

To those watching GQuuuuuuX, may I suggest that now is a good time to check out Tomino's 1997 novella Secret Rendezvous? Or at least, the first chapter specifically.

Despite that, I really can't deny I'm curious to see where they'll take this, but my negative bias with GQuX has rosen up like 600% after this episode, oh boy

Gundam GQuX episode 9 left a really BITTER taste in my mouth

mostly due to the fact that I personally detest the trope they brought in this episode with a flaming passion, and I'm ready to throw shit at this show just like an angry zoo chimp at the end if they really go this way with this story

Undead Unluck is finally over

it's not everyday we see a manga this fucking good and so extremely cohesive in its themes, characters and everything and so committed to all of it passionately. Pitch perfect excellent manga and easily one of the best Shonen Jump manga from the past 30 years

Everyone talked about it it during the Golden Globe Awards but Fernanda Torres definitely deserves an award if she gets nominated for best actress in the Oscars as well.

Her performance in I'm Still Here was amazing and the best thing in it. Really cool people around the world are seeing that too

Rest in Power, Lynch. Really fucking powerful movie and I'm having a blast with Twin Peaks

I've been feeling too lazy and depressed to write in english these past few weeks lmao

There are no fixed main characters, so "The Birds" as a whole society is the main character here, and they end up being used as a reflection on human nature since we see them going kinda the same path as humans and how flawed as a civilization they end up being.

Really excellent sci-fi manga here.

and it's also really interesting how the worldbuilding develops here. A lot of very tiny details are answered and explained as we see them go, like how they choose their language, how they turned humans into slaves and literal livestock, the birds' politics and even their religion and primal urges

I clearly underestimated how ambitious this would be. Every chapter is a self-contained story in the timeline of the birds' evolution as the new rulers of earth while their society advances... and they fall into the same mistakes mankind had, and arguably worse sometimes. This REALLY goes to places

Finished "Tomorrow the Birds"

Heavily inspired by Hitchcock's "The Birds" at first, this is about birds taking revenge on mankind and gradually slaughtering them all until they become the dominant species on Earth and forming their own society as millennia pass by
