I’m all for a slight alteration in style/System, getting Eze and Saka closer to goal and more inside if means full backs offering the width on occasions or that maverick approach, like PSG. Times last season with injuries we did see 4-2-4, maybe Havertz alongside Gyokores.

PL punditry from refs to broadcasters is very northern team bias.

The commentary I was listening to with Andy Townsend made comments on lack of touches by Gyokores but less of what Ekitike wasn’t doing as an a striker against a young CB being brought in away at Anfield. The archaic punditry is laughable. Still people on that retired years ago.

Any critique of Arteta playing a cagey gameplan would have to be levelled at Slot, who did the same — except with all his best players, at Anfield. Anything else is post hoc fallacy.
