An FBI agent conducted an initial review of the Renee Good killing and determined sufficient grounds existed to open a civil rights probe into the actions of the ICE officer who shot her. Justice Department says no inquiry is warranted. @perrystein.bsky.social www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

Danish Parliament Deputy Speaker Lars-Christian Brask:

"If I could come with some advice, it would be for the Senate & House to start to take control of political power in America because with this erratic & mad behaviour, you have to ask the question, is the President capable of running the US?"

A dark blue mug with an American flag reads β€œAMERICA 1776 – 2026”

Fairly sure it’s unintentional, but the end date on this mug being sold by the Smithsonian does make it sound a little like they’re saying America dies in 2026…

"You're asking me about something that the president just said... He's never going to implement it... We should talk instead about what he's doing... Every time we get distracted by what he talks about rather than what he does... he destroys and he redistributes to the rich."

Russian Telegram channels report a fire after an attack on Russian Tuapse.

There are reports that a Rosneft offshore oil terminal might have been hit.

The deep-water berth might have been hit. It was put into operation in 2013 and has the capacity to handle up to ~7 million tons per year

Statement from @postguild.bsky.social on the firing of Karen Attiah:

The Washington Post can't claim to defend free speech while firing Karen Attiah for exercising hers.

The Post should be a newsroom that promotes the freedom of ideas, speech and the press.

This is your obsession and it's pretty relentless and for no reason. You don't get to decided who or what anyone is except when you write. In the real world people can and always will be what they want to be. You can't stop it but you can continue to make young kids lives more difficult. You are cruel JK, you have started to look cruel in pictures. All this obsession is wearing on your expression. The pictures of you mocking 'trans' people like Winston Churchill after the Supreme Court ruling. Your endless comments about how rich you are. It's depressing and tacky and proves you are desperate to mean something but sadly you are just being mean. As my hilarious friend David Hoyle always says.

'Ladies & gentlemen and those of you still deciding. There are two type of people, nice people and c***s.

I do not expect any positive response and you will continue to be supported by women who see you as some kind of gender hero. Women are not better than men and men are not better than women. As a man, a biological one, rah, rah, I have no issue with a girl becoming a boy or the other way around. As a gay man who has worn make-up since 14 I had lived my entire life feeling awkward and afraid using male public toilets. It's not easy being different and you are only making it harder. Why don't you buy a nice Scottish island or a farm and start a JK commune for traumatised Terfs. Or listen to your fellow Scott Sydney Banks and he will hopefully help you understand that this is all in your head.

Any other suggestions?

β€˜Best of the best’: New Treasury boss takes helm in historic move Jenny Wilkinson, a β€œlevel-headed and sensible” economist, succeeds Steven Kennedy who will shift to secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Jenny Wilkinson will be the first woman to serve as Secretary to the Australian Treasury. She's a brilliant economist, intensely thoughtful and a great public servant.

She was also my boss in my first job after uni (at the RBA). She was a great (& supportive) first boss!

Via Haaretz: Netanyahu has repeated his mission, saying β€œwe are going to take over all of Gaza”, admitting that aid is being allowed in, only because Israel’s reputation is being damaged.

Yet our politicians pretend that Israel is not committing genocide or ethnic cleansing. A disgrace.

Earlier today, watched footage of a woman in the US being taken away by masked men from ICE.
Her daughter crying piteously for her mother, neighbours trying to stop it.
I cried. Haven't stopped thinking all day of the sheer cruelty of it...if that was me, my daughter?
The US has lost its way.

If, as seems increasingly likely, Sussan Ley, will be the next federal opposition leader, the irony in a male dominated Liberal Party would be stark. But we’ve seen this movie before? Give the poison chalice to a woman to do a clean-up as best she can. A doomed, dispensable placeholder. #auspol

Australia re-elects Anthony Albanese as Labor rides anti-Trump wave to seal crushing win Opposition leader Peter Dutton fails to dissociate himself from Trump-like rhetoric and policies – and loses his seat

This is two global elections in ONE WEEK where the conservative candidate trying to become prime minister not only led his party to a big loss but lost their own seat in parliament (!) in huge upsets. We are global pariahs unseen since the end of the Cold War and need stronger domestic opposition.

After years of saying (correctly) that crypto is a scam, I wonder if there was one specific moment when Trump smacked his head and said "Wait a minute! Of course it's a scam! How come I'm not in on it? This is the greatest opportunity for bribery any president ever had!"
