30.10.2025 11:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not sure what that is either, but most obvious counter example would be Moral Majority, where conservatives made electoral gains by appealing to a group that previously refused to participate in politics, and whose concerns have dominated since, but I *am* sure that doesn't count for reasons.
29.10.2025 21:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0no, in omar's case it was just a complete lie, not even a "misunderstanding" to ground it

28.10.2025 06:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0maybe people don't want to elect a "flawed, complicated, and sometimes contradictory human being whose political views don't always fit neatly into a box" to be Senator. they find it concerning that they might think they're electing a progressive only to get a fetterman or sinema
28.10.2025 00:03 β π 30 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0I scanned the article. My favorite part is where they laud him for rejecting fascist symbology and saying to give fascists "no quarter" then immediately say we should therefore forgive his fascist symbology and give him quarter. It is a "Platner is a land of contrasts" level essay

25.10.2025 04:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0heh. you find this surprising? I wish I could. I am completely inured to novelty and whimsy.

these renderings of the planned white house ball room are ridiculously tacky

24.10.2025 05:03 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Symbols that are most commonly associated with Nazism: the swastika, the doppelte Siegrune, and the SS Totenkopf
if it makes you feel better - it helped ground me - every single law I looked up banning nazi symbols, if they mentioned individual symbols, would explicitly mention the SS totenkopf. It's not obscure or crypto. Heck, look at the top of this wikipedia page
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bans_on...
a guy who apparently makes it a big part of his identity that he was a marine and enjoyed combat
23.10.2025 23:49 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I thought I was joking about hitting the character limit, so I checked that post and it was exactly 300 lol
23.10.2025 23:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0it's why they're called mutuals
23.10.2025 22:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0not hitting the character limit is an inefficient luxury. you know a better way to say "america is inherently fascist"?
23.10.2025 21:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0the beliefs and stories I held were very bad. but the culture I adopted them from? That culture is very good
23.10.2025 20:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I could buy a marine being dumb as hell, but when his reaction was disgust with the people telling him it was an explicit nazi symbol, then put out a statement saying the nazi symbol might be misinterpreted as a nazi symbol and really this is the establishment's fault, I knew he was full of shit
23.10.2025 20:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Symbols that are most commonly associated with Nazism: the swastika, the doppelte Siegrune, and the SS Totenkopf
hell, look at the wikipedia for "bans on nazi symbols" and it's right there at the top of the page
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bans_on...
as for "universal recognition," if you look up laws that ban common nazi symbols, if individual symbols are detailed, the totenkopf is *explicitly* mentioned. Further, despite people's objections that it could apply to any skull design, German law recognizes specifically only the 2nd SS design
23.10.2025 19:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I feel confident in saying anyone who says they know something about wwii history but claim to have never encountered that symbol are a liar, either lying about the extent of their own knowledge or lying that they've never seen it.
23.10.2025 19:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0"not my place to educate you" I assert after I demanded you listen to me and you agreed

22.10.2025 23:26 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0When it came out in 2009, I noted how the violence was extreme and visceral, robbing it of catharsis. How the climax cleverly broke the 4th wall to contrast us watching nationalized, glorified violence upon our enemy with the nazis watching the same on theirs.
Now I whooped and hollered.
I rewatched Inglorious Basterds. So many hats with inexplicable jolly roger / grateful dead symbols got what was coming to them.
22.10.2025 04:13 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1it's wild (and minimizing, intentionally or not) that people are acting like it's limited to a single division when every single SS cap had it.

It's not limited to the 3rd Panzer division, though they also used it as their insignia. It symbolized the SS as a whole, and every SS cap had it.
21.10.2025 22:53 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0disgusting how politics has become so divisive that you can't even defeat a 100% hitler by supporting a 100% hitler
