Rebuild the White House.

Not enough of you believe me right now, but "Rebuild The White House" is going to become one of the most popular slogans in American political history

More white pundits should read James Baldwin. Like actually read him.

A Ballot Measure Targets Mail Voting in Maine - Bolts Question 1, on the November ballot, would set up a barrage of new restrictions on absentee ballots that would considerably affect older voters and people with disabilities.

There’s 1,000 times more chatter about the Maine senate race in a year than about Maine’s ballot measure in 3 weeks that’d bring voter ID and crack down on mail voting… maybe let’s start there??? boltsmag.org/maine-questi...

Whoever did the data "analysis" and #dataViz for this piece should be embarrassed. This is beyond naive empiricism; it's wrong in so many ways that it'd take an entire article to explain them. I have better things to do, but this type of intellectually vacuous nonsense must be debunked.

lol. I’d also prefer if the Nazis stayed on the GOP side for now, and frankly would like them all to disappear sometime.

Something maybe worth noting is that all the frog costumes and signs and good-natured memeing came about because a wide spectrum of Americans saw someone in direct, brave confrontation with ICEβ€”getting pepperballed and standing their groundβ€”and thought β€œthat’s awesome. That person is a hero”

I would even argue that even if they DID vote for this and now have had a change of heart to the point where they’re fucking protesting then I say welcome to the giant Fuck Trump tent party and happy hour is 2-5 weekdays

This is dark. But also, this display of solidarity on the part of the pentagon press corps should be a model for dealing with the regime

THE DNC AND ITS OFFICERS DO NOT ENDORSE IN PRIMARY ELECTIONS β€”PERIOD!

THE DNC IS NOT FORβ€” ORβ€” AGAINST YOUR FAVORITE CANDIDATE. WE SUPPORT THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEES CHOSEN BY VOTERS.

WE FOCUS ONLY ON BEATING REPUBLICANS SO GOVERNMENT WORKS FOR US.

THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

That's just neither in the traditional news media or social media model, where they're incentivized to design their platform, or churn out content, for you to stay as long as possible on their platform. Rather than leave when you have just the right amount of input and stimuli...

15.10.2025 04:11 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Is there some way to: stay just informed enough (with maybe a bit of cushion for pleasurable things or news around personal interests) so you make the right decisions in the world for you?

15.10.2025 04:11 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

There must be a better way to stay informed without going insane with all the useless details. Social media incentivizes us to want to be completionists...and news media as well. (Even if you only subscribe to NYT, they simply publish too much for you to consume all of)

There's a really interesting and useful insight here. Too much of news and/or trying to keep up with every drip-drop of crazy insane news makes you feel like you're up to date on everything, but most pieces don't incrementally add any utility or change your actions in a meaningful way.

I wanna argue this was always true even before ChatGPT to some extent. Most of the best (or at least most memorable) artists/creators/writers were always those who had some weird, or identifiable idiosyncrasies. And idiosyncrasies always punctured smoothness. But it's also always a moving target.

I really don't understand people's reality these days. If any of these places are 'war zones', why haven't all the airlines cancelled their flights going in and out of these places?

For 26 but especially 2028 it's time for Democrats to make clear that the current Supreme Court will have to be reformed (expanded in number, reformed in structure) to allow popular govt to continue in the United States. Not so much a litmus test as precondition for any other promise to be credible.

The Two Kinds of Moderate

I don't agree that "...the far right and far left are roughly equally wrong," but otherwise, seems like some alignment with PG.

I often don't like the "breaking the rules" metaphor. If they can be broken then they're not rules, they're simply statistically more common practices, out of a grab bad of possibilities.

I still really like Paul Graham's exploration of essays here: paulgraham.com/essay.html
