One of the terrible things about the ICE occupation of Minneapolis is that theyβve been doing stuff that is so crazy that people assume itβs some kind of exaggeration, despite being widely documented on video. Following observers home! Lurking outside elementary schools! Black-bagging citizens!

By the way, for those of you not in MN: Homanβs strategy was to withdraw some agents, so it felt like we were in the denouement of the crisis, and then escalate hard against observers. Theyβre being incredibly aggressive with observers now. National media may not want to check out just yet

At the Alex Pretti memorial this afternoon, people are unfurling four very large banners.
They read, "How many more will ICE murder? How many more funerals? How many more...how many more?"

Protests happen, but most of what is happening in Minneapolis isnβt protesting.
More accurate terms:
- observers
- witnesses
- volunteers
- neighbors
- residents
- people

There has been an increasing sense in Minneapolis that we are on our own, that our elected representatives are unwilling and/or unable to take action to get these murderous Nazi thugs out of our community. I really hope that changes today. The time for pleading TV hits ended weeks ago.

Only speaking personally, but todayβs execution isnβt scaring me from protecting our neighbors, as some suggest is ICEβs goal. Nor am I angry with incandescent rage, in that I know such rage is unhelpful. Rather, I feel like it has forced me to truly accept that the same fate might befall me.

One of the reasons I am so insistent that everyone remember that only 22% of the US population voted for Trump is that the Christian Nationalists want the myth of a mandate in circulation.
We need to reject it. They never had a mandate, and their coalition is shrinking.

I am not exaggerating when I say ICE functions as a terrorist organization in the Twin Cities. The goal seems to be to harass and frighten people (the ones who are lucky enough to not be abducted, at least) and it's deeply unsettling when you learn they're in your neighborhood.

Outsiders need to understand that if youβre observing ICE itβs an inevitability youβll get threatened like this eventually. They led me back to my house again today in a really scary situation, which I did at least record and can share later if thereβs interest. But thatβs less scary than this.

Yeah people donβt understand how insane the surge here is. The insane videos you see are examples of stuff happening dozens or hundreds of times daily. (Although, again, there are signs they are departing for outstate after being roundly rejected by the community).

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

Normally donβt do this, but the Twin Cities are occupied and there are a lot of folks I know who are helping people with very acute needs. I know a lot of good folks out there have offered to help or want to know how they can help, so I may occasionally boost fundraisers for folk or causes I trust.
11.01.2026 05:38 β π 1438 π 244 π¬ 15 π 30
I donβt think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.
