I watched this with my wife last week. She is a somewhat serious birder and I set this up to play for her and was just going to watch a couple minutes to get the feel of it, but their humor immediately sucked me in and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire thing.

Some local audubon guys told us they did a study of pelican carcasses a few years ago and counted 74 in 2 months (july and august).

Last week we saw a mom otter grab one of the pelicans and drag it across the lagoon to her pups.

Don't know if it is seasonal. We were there(Abbot's Lagoon) in July and also last week and both times it happened. The first time there was a coyote swimming out trying to get to the carcass after the otters were done with it, but he eventually gave up.
