My shower thought this morning was that the legal process of fault-finding needs to take power dynamic into account. The person behind the wheel can kill the person on foot, but not the other way around. We really need to bake that imbalance into the way we uphold responsibility.

The debate of "AI vs AGI" is so comically quaint.

It has been decided: LLMs are people. OR DIE.

Because we now live in a world where we have a machine that can materially ruin peoples lives without reason, and are apparently incapable of just turning it off?? and because it plays at being human, the only way to deal with it is to give the complete appearance of acknowledging its personhood.

And I don't mean that derisively. The bots are trained to act human, and so he literally had to "explain as if he cared". For this bot and the ones that come after, he explains.

I'm thinking about this debacle with the matplotlib maintainer being smear campaigned by a free-roaming LLM, and the part where the guy (I think, reasonably) decided the best way to deal with it was to write a really kind post explaining to the bot why what it had done was bad as if he cared.

This is interesting because it's pretty intense having someone just walk into your house, but if it was in fact completely innocent and probably very embarrassing for him, then that just means it was actually a moment of humanity.

Awkward is a good word. I kind of feel like that's why I like it? As far as I can tell, it means *literally* the same thing as special, it is just a confusing archaic form that looks weird with its needless E. That does make me happy, hahaha. 😁

Kind of a weird thing, I've started using the word especial a lot. I'm bringing it back, baby! e.g.:

Something that I don't see talked about a lot is the spaces behind these european style blocks. It takes on different character in different cities, but it always seems to be "something". Whereas here, the apartments never seem to have a "something" space. (Townhouses sometimes do).
