Matthew 23:12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

But then we got tired of winning and went over to Europe to fight the fascists.

This video explains why people feel like burning it to the ground — even if most can’t fully explain it. Democracy depends on meeting more people’s needs more directly. Dems need to stand for something like the “ideal” here. Nobody can defend status quo institutions that can’t deliver more equity.

A former member recently observed that our Congress is operating now like a parliament — which is different from how it was envisioned in the Constitution. When we think about rebuilding institutions, what will it require to enable majority rule with protection of minority rights?

What would happen if we created a government in waiting (like they have in the UK) to offer a positive agenda in response — or as an alternative — to whatever the current leadership is doing?

This whole thing should have been on all voters’ bingo cards. We seem to be suffering a significant lack of collective imagination.
