14.11.2025 09:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I live in a city where immigrants did all of this and more: Theyβve saved the city from itself.
Theyβve packed it with children, small businesses, and immaculate multi-generational homes.
Theyβve βgentrifiedβ it in all the right ways.
Twenty-five years ago, this place was a nasty meth ghetto.

Watching a lot of the debating on X between the pro and anti-Israel right and it's really fascinating (in a very bad/sad way) to see the Jewish right and Zionist right in general face that they need to debate against Nazism becoming part of their party.
They missed that Nazis were always there.
Iβm smitten. Itβs a particularly loving act of resistance to engage in on behalf of our homeless neighbors on SNAP. A hot meal while living on the streets during winter can be magical, especially when traveling to the nearest soup kitchen requires a silly amount of time and energy.
Good on you!
This person raised a wonderful human being. This situation is a win for every party involved and itβs a great way to better a small segment of a community.

The republican party is an insane death cult, the democratic party is 3 corporations in a trench coat, and the "socialists" are just the completely normal left-wing capitalists you'd find in any of 2 dozen European nations.

Imagine being so dedicated to stealing people's healthcare that you let letters telling them that their premiums were about to spike by 100-500% go out 3 days before an election, while you were also trying to starve 40 million people to bully the other party into letting you steal the healthcare.

We desperately need to have more conversations about the contract economyβs exploitative relationship with the ACA.
28.10.2025 00:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think Iβm talking about BOTH private and ACA policies. When HSAs became a thing to use in conjunction with βhigh deductible plans,β a max deductible ceiling of ~$5k was established. Somehow, it prevents a tax loophole from developing.
Itβs been a while since I looked into it, so I might be wrong.
Youβre wise. Oddly enough, Iβve been riding a bicycle as my primary means of transportation for almost two decades. This increases my risk for catastrophic injury while simultaneously keeping me healthier. I can only wonder if there are crash insurance policies with injury riders for cyclers. π
27.10.2025 23:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Thatβs eβffing bonkers!
One thing that grinds my gears about our ultra-high deductible plans is we canβt use health savings accounts that were ironically created to mitigate the consequences of high deductible plans. Last I checked, they can only be used with plans that have max ~$5k deductibles.
Thatβs pretty much how Iβve been utilizing it all year. Suffice to say, if my 2026 monthly premium dramatically increases, I might be in a situation where Iβll spend less as a βcash payorβ for those services; and removing myself from the insurance pool for this reason would hurt those who remain.
