Yeah, despite the rumblings from other reporters this still feels like another bit of Axios wishcasting.

What's for certain is that any Democrat who votes to cave now and betray the base in exchange for nothing at all will live to regret it.

No.

No.

Last night, the Trump Administration sent a letter suggesting Wisconsin should return our FoodShare payments.

I asked Georgetown law prof David Super wtf is going on with this latest demand for states to claw back benefits already sent out.
He says the law doesn't allow for this, and if the USDA is mad that states already sent out SNAP money, too badβ€”they were following USDA's own guidance. Full comments:

Just called @ossoff.senate.gov with another rambling message like DO NOT BEND THE KNEE, stop letting them be Lucy with the football!!!!!!! They are not gonna give you this vote and you’ll all look like pathetic losers who gave up the American people for nothing!!

I’m convinced that Marjorie Taylor Greene will announce she’s running for senate the minute the democrats cave on the healthcare.

Newsom: "It's not about rule of law anymore. It's rule of Don. He's choosing which court decisions he agrees with. He's quite literally running an extortion racket. He's doing it with some of the most powerful corporate leaders. What does everything have in common? Tariffs. They're about leverage"

I skipped this article for a while because I figured I'd read enough about the NYT's Mamdani coverage. I don't want to say the headline does the article a disservice - it is also very much about that - but goes well beyond as well

me yesterday: look, Chuck Schumer is an incompetent dipshit, but somehow he’s played the shutdown semi-functionally because his opponents are even stupider

today: you fool, you idiot, Chuck Schumer has only appeared vaguely competent because his caucus actively revolted

should have known better

A few weeks ago I zoomed with a group of high school students and their adult mentor to discuss taking social action. I am thrilled to report that this group of 10 students raised $10,000 in two weeks to support their local food pantry. They sent me a photo and it has them all jumping and I tear up.

Senate Dems, do not cave. Ensuring healthcare premiums don’t surge is an 80-20 issue. They want to gut the ACA because their disdain for Obama far outweighs their concern for anyone’s health.

How the Trump Administration Is Giving Even More Tax Breaks to the Wealthy

The morning after this same administration fought to deny food to 42 million people, we read:

"In addition to the $4 trillion in tax cuts that President Trump signed into law in July... the administration is now adding hundreds of billions of dollars in new breaks for big businesses and investors."

The church stories I could tell.

I also can’t tell you how my times I questioned various church leaders about this and was given a number of bs excuses.

The TikTok woman calling churches to ask for help for formula and all of the white churches saying no is very typical. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been stopped by a women w/children in a parking lot who told me they asked for help at all the local churches and no one would help.

40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like β€œbet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion

I'm...at a loss honestly

I know it's an administrative stay and will in all likelihood be dissolved in a few days, & I assume she had a procedural strategy reason

But we're talking about *food funding* and an implicit promise of procedural reasons seems like a poor substitute for basic human needs

I think there is a whole lot of hubris and institutional self protection going on with the liberal justices.

/2 1. Real human beings will suffer from even a brief stay. 2. The government's position is transparently dishonest and in bad faith. 3. The Supreme Court has lost any benefit of the doubt. They have lost the mandate of the heaven that is the rule of law.

This is actually a pretty standard and unremarkable move, as evidenced by Justice Jackson issuing it.

But most people won't believe that for several good reasons.

The Trump administration has spent the last several days begging court after court not to force them to feed hungry families and children! Who are these people???

Panera’s moderately caffeinated lemonade was loosely associated with 2 deaths before it was taken off market.

This article alone has 4 examples of ChatGPT encouraging young people to commit suicide, and OpenAI’s own public stats estimate over a million users discuss suicide with ChatGPT each week.
