"I am languid & bedeviled & hate writing & hate everybody," is about to enter my everyday moanings, alongside Virginia Woolf's, "Too much and not the mood."

Yeah, as best as I can tell, he's trying to make AI sustainable. Which, on the one hand, eww, no, can we please just kill any kind of genAI forever...but on the other hand, at least he's actively trying not to destroy the environment on its behalf?

Wait, I'm curious! I keep kind of waiting for him to run for president.

Ah! Okay, he's probably on par with Vienna Teng, then. Or maybe surpasses her.

12.02.2026 17:58 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Ah, I wouldn't have heard of him, but I guess that would make sense.

I have no idea who that is ^.^;;;;

Hard to say, since they're in completely different fields. But I've heard non-SHSers mention Vienna Teng before and not Varun, so I decided she's probably it.

We love to claim Steven Spielberg, though I'm pretty sure he only attended for a year. So maybe Vienna Teng?

The premise of this one hadn't particularly stood out to me, but you've absolutely sold me! Excited to watch!

Over on threads someone just use ai;dr and we all need to adopt that right quick

Yup. My dad didn't know that his OWN name was John until he was in maybe kindergarten and his parents were like, "Do you want to go by, y'know, the name on your birth certificate?" and he took one look at the other 9 or so Johns in the class and was like, "Nope. I'll keep being Sandy."

This is the story of my life. I am usually too hot, but on rare occasion I, for no discernible reason, become too cold and find it utterly impossible to get warm enough again.

A tree cut down and felled next to its fellow trees but this tree's rings have an oddity to them and the shape and texture and color it makes it look like a fish drawing

Sometimes if you cut it down correctly, you can still see the last meal a tree had in its stomach when it died

2. Alas, no. (Or, at least, I don't believe I ever have.)

Today I learned why blurbs are called "blurbs"! (From THE UNTOLD STORY OF BOOKS, by Michael Castleman)

So it’s pretty darn awesome, now, at the age of almost-37, to have been selected to be part of THIS debutante experience, with people who ARE my people, doing the thing I love best in the whole wide world:

BOOKS.

In middle school, I quit out of the junior sorority program that would've ended with a "debutante ball" because I didn't fit in. In college, no sorority wanted me---and although I was embarrassed, it was fine. They weren't my people, and I'd mostly just wanted to know that I'd given the idea a shot.

It has just come to my attention that not everyone went through a teenage obsession with Branwell Bronte phase?

the idea that making art is embarrassing if you don't do it well enough to make a career out of it is an objectively harmful and toxic brainworm.

My favourite grasshopper fact: Grasshoppers first appeared on the planet 250 million years ago.

Grass did not appear on the planet until 40 million years ago

Imagine it: 210 million years, hopping around on any random surface you can find, waiting for the grass that will make you truly yourself.

As I passed some Girl Scouts outside the grocery store yesterday, I heard one of their mothers ask them, "Hey, should I ask AI to make a chant for you guys?"

And they all immediately shouted, "NO!"

The kids are all right. But what the fuck is wrong with the adults???
