A minimalist movie poster for "Aniara" featuring a spacecraft drifting into a distorted, hypnotic vortex of black and white lines that radiate from a bright red planet against a black background.
Aniara was released 7 years ago today.
"A spaceship carrying settlers to Mars is knocked off course, causing the consumption-obsessed passengers to consider their place in the universe."
A delicious gloomy film.
I'd never seen the video for this song before. If I'd ever thought to imagine what images fit with this song, they wouldn't have been these. Probably because I always forget about the "metal" bit in the middle. Anyway, I love this nonsense.

View of a cloud-shrouded city by night. The consists of massive monolithic towers looming over clusters of smaller towers in shadow. The lights of the city illuminate the underside of clouds that pass through the towers. The nights sky is a slate gray illuminated both by aurora and stars.
"With golden hand you built, you raised, alongside humankind redeemed,
A city wrought for hope and joy as none have ever dreamed."

Original seascape oil painting by Tisha Mark, "Sunset on Opening Day" 20"x20" oil on linen (2024). A seascape painting with dramatic blue clouds in orange-toned sunset sky over a rocky seashore. Flecks of orange light appear in the sky, and colors from the sky are reflecting in water below.
Most days, I spend at least a little time staring at the sky, watching how light plays with #clouds. Sharing this sunset painting for today's #BlueSkyArtShow

I'm glad they released two episodes of Starfleet Academy. I didn't even begin to get on its wavelength until partway through the second one. Started it with hope and good will in my heart but it threw me real fast, and then won me back. Mostly. I think. I'll watch more.
