As well as any independent, or anyone from another non DFL party, not just us Greens. And it help parties grow while also staying true to their prniciples and platform.

NEW EPISODE TODAY! The last two mayoral elections have featured remarkably high voter turnout. Any plan moving forward must reckon with this unique environment of highly motivated voter behavior. We discussed what that means re: strategy millcityhall.com/episodes/202...

Hmm....Jenkins could allow this to wait until her successor is sworn in. Especially if he does not support it. I think her colleagues would defer to her wishes. Maybe they already are.

Great analysis here by David on the tale of two cities we still have in Mpls as revealed again in the 2025 election, but highlighting signs of hope from wards 8 and 12.

Roper: Jacob Frey can thank the far left for handing him another term Frey was a vulnerable incumbent. But progressives banked on the wrong guy to beat him.

Some thoughts on Eric Roper’s finger-wag in the mayor’s race: www.startribune.com/jacob-frey-r...
1. Asking β€œwhat chance did [Davis & Hampton] have ignores Frey’s agency is creating the raceβ€˜s dynamics. Frey sued the most moderate hope (Emily Koski) to cut off her money & intimated others. 1/

"blue jays are often considered aggressive and territorial, which can be perceived as mean. This behavior is driven by their need to defend their food sources, nests, and young from threats like other birds, squirrels, and even cats. They will chase off other birds, raid nests for eggs or young"

i have been frustrated both at the conservative DFL / republican alliance in support of jacob frey this year and at the media's ignoring it, especially when we are expected to come together as DFL for statewide elections next year

If he really cared, in my opinion, he or a top-level staffer would have welcomed them into a conference room and listened to them. He could have come back after 6 and done it. That was the easier and better thing to do. This was abusive and an insulting power play attempt not worthy of our mayor.

It may sound like an exaggeration to say Weinhagen "bought Frey his strong mayor powers" but the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce was the 100% sole funder of the PAC that campaigned for the strong mayor charter change in 2021.

Feds: Ex-Minneapolis Chamber CEO stole Crimestoppers reward cash amid embezzlement scheme A federal grand jury has indicted former Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jonathan Weinhagen on charges of stealing $200,000 from the organization.

I hope there's PAC money left to mail me something like "We could have stopped all that crime if Frey's chamber of commerce buddy - who bought him his strong mayor powers! - hadn't embezzled the crimestoppers cash."

It's good to see the city looking into this, and MPR covering it. It would be great if the state legislature could at least get out of the way and let cities of the first class have more options. Propery taxes and sales taxes tend to hit those with less income the hardest.

In Minneapolis, a network of big $ political committeesβ€”All of Mpls, We Love Mpls, and Thrive Mplsβ€”share donors, staff, and messaging.

In July, We Love Mpls was cited by the Campaign Finance Board (CFB) for violating disclosure rules.

Here's why all of them could be in violation of MN laws. πŸ‘‡

You are correct.the strong mayor charter change seems to be being abused to allow Frey to amend it (snd sny policy he wants) on the fly. With dept heads only accountable to him, he gets away with it.
