Thanks Graham, I'm not always the best at taking my own advice but it was worth it here!

A black-and-white architectural shot looking directly up through a multi-story oval atrium. The tiers are lined with decorative iron railings and white molding, leading the eye toward a large, intricate stained-glass skylight at the center. Soft lighting along the ceiling edges highlights the symmetrical, neoclassical design.

A black-and-white, high-angle bird's-eye view looking down an oval staircase atrium. An ornate wrought-iron railing circles the dark-carpeted floor, looking down onto a bright, tiled lower level where a person stands in a doorway. The walls are adorned with large floral patterns and museum display banners.

A matter of perspective - Always look up, but don’t forget to look down... 👀

Last one from Glasgow Cathedral
Was hoping for a bit of Bach'n'Roll but the organist was nowhere to be seen 🎹🎵

Buttermere 2012, fond memories of first forays to the Lake District, family trips when the weans were wee and I was still using the ol' Canon 7D. Such a endlessly captivating area for landscape loveliness #Cumbria #England #LakeDistrict www.damianshields.com

Cadires i taules d'un bar curiosament recollides sobre un terra mullat per la pluja. Al fons, els arcs de pedra d'un carrer adjacent. Tot plegat amb una estructura de curves i rectes interessant.

Curvatura. Geometria urbana accidental.

This black and white photograph captures a serene, yet dramatic, park landscape during sunset.

The scene is dominated by a dense array of bare-branched trees, their intricate, skeletal forms creating a complex network against the bright, low-hanging sun. The strong backlighting silhouettes the trees and casts long, stark shadows across the grassy foreground and paved pathways. The sun, a brilliant burst of light centred in the upper middle of the frame, pierces through a gap in the branches, creating a powerful focal point.

In the mid-ground, a path curves gently, leading the eye towards two small, silhouetted figures walking together. Their presence adds a sense of scale and narrative, suggesting a quiet moment shared in nature. The ground is a mix of dark grass and pavement, with some larger rocks visible in the immediate foreground, anchoring the composition.

The overall contrast is high with deep blacks in the shadows and bright whites where the sunlight hits, enhancing the texture of the bark and the starkness of the winter setting.

The composition uses leading lines from the paths and the vertical elements of the tree trunks to guide the viewer's gaze through the scene. The atmosphere is one of tranquil solitude and natural beauty, emphasising form, shadow, and light over colour.

The image feels timeless due to its lack of colour and the universal nature of the park setting and the human element. The starkness of the branches against the light-filled sky provides a beautiful, artistic, pattern that draws the eye upward. The overall effect is both peaceful and visually striking, a testament to the power of light and shadow in photography.

The depth of field is sufficient to keep both the foreground elements and the distant figures in reasonable focus, ensuring all parts of the narrative are captured.

Thanks for asking Simon. Used the tone controls in Lightroom to increase the contrast and darkened the top and bottom with linear gradients to draw the eye into the centre
