Interesting leaflet. Those with a better knowledge of electoral law may be especially interested. Sidenote - this is a ward with a large and growing Haredi population.

It's easy to look at stuff like this and assume the next general election is going to a mess. But there are 650 individual contests β in which voters are pretty adept at working out which lever they need to pull to get the result they want.
24.10.2025 06:19 β π 27 π 4 π¬ 4 π 4This is why I wouldnβt put too much stock in current MRP results showing reform majority - voters can and do tactically co-ordinate as we saw last July with anti-Con tactical voting. Indeed, strong MRP results for Reform may help inform and encourage anti-Farage tactical voting.
24.10.2025 06:30 β π 98 π 30 π¬ 9 π 0By the way, the Conservatives won 17% in Caerphilly at the last Senedd election. Last night was also the story of their absolute wipe-out. Theyβve always been comparatively weak in Wales since devolution, but to see them on 2% is brutal.
24.10.2025 06:39 β π 89 π 15 π¬ 5 π 0Plaid Cymru won the Caerphilly by-election overnight, with Reform pushing Labour into a distant third.
Plaid got 47% of the vote on a record turnout, suggesting to me that there was some tactical voting to keep Reform out, which won 36%.
A factor that could be underpriced in a general election.
Superb, from Ben Jennings.

Almost nobody in the Cons Party or beyond it had noticed that the Shadow Home Secretary with two other frontbenchers and 5 backbenchers tabled a bill in May to deport 3 million people - stripping almost every pensioner, parent or nurse who did not take out citizenship of their right to live here

So it's now 5 who recognise the experience and commitment of Jess Phillips, verses 5 who wants her out - a group which includes at least 1 which is working with Reform.
This is now nothing more than Reform trying to destroy the inquiry and undermine the Labour government.

Some big reductions in gilt yields in recent days. It's unclear whether the OBR have already closed their forecast window or not, and so unclear whether it will feed directly into Budget calculations, but it's good news for the Chancellor regardless.

This footage from Ruabon Moor, captured by The Green Britain Foundation, shows illegal traps laid after the ban - itβs another example of how our countryside and wildlife are abused by big landowners in pursuit of money.
