We ran an ethical campaign, no gutter politics no sensationalist rubbish. This campaign was by the people for the people, and of that I couldn't be more proud.
Thank you to my amazing volunteers: every conversation, every flyer and every moment you gave made a difference.
A thread of gratitude:
While the overall result in Herbert wasnβt what weβd hoped for, we did achieve an increase in the first preference vote for Labor, and, more importantly, the voices of tens of thousands of everyday people in Townsville were heard and amplified.
Thank you π

Today I am honoured to be visiting beautiful Palm Island at the invitation of Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council. I've spent a lot of time on Palm over the years and it's always a pleasure to go back. I'll be setting up a mobile office at the mall, and will be visiting with community.

I know their worth β and itβs time the system did too.
As a long-time worker in the community sector, I know what incredible things community and disability workers do every day to serve our most vulnerable and at risk people.

By cutting the time it takes to save up a deposit and levelling the playing field, weβll help more Townsville people into their own homes sooner.
Weβll also continue with the largest housing build in Australiaβs history, because more housing means more affordable homes.
