Around this time yesterday I stopped at St. Katharine’s Chapel in Limehouse to check out their 14th century misericords. Thankfully it was otherwise empty of visitors, I had to lie flat on my back and shimmy underneath a big chair to photograph the hidden demon and its brides in the fourth image...

Sheriff: Ravena man charged with firing gun into neighbor's home had ICE, NYPD patches A Ravena man was arrested for allegedly accidently firing his AR-15 after a neighbor discovered a bullet hole in their bathroom, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators found the assault rifle that fired the .223 round into his neighbor's house plus “police equipment displaying multiple law enforcement insignia": a NYPD badge and patch and multiple patches reading “immigration enforcement,” “sheriff” and (yes!) “livestock agent.”

Through the patient lens of Kutub Uddin, we glimpse a delicate world few ever notice, two harvest mice balancing on golden wheat under soft morning light.

My photo shows a Roman bronze waterspout designed in the shape of an animal’s head — likely a wolf. The animal’s ears stand upright, the eyes are expressive, and the fur is textured with fine lines around the face and neck. The animal’s mouth is open wide, its jaws gripping the water spout outlet. It resembles a dog fetching a newspaper which gives it an endearing quality The water spout outlet has a flat base which flares outwards, reminiscent of the shape of a dustpan (from a dustpan and brush). Water flowed from the spout into a public water trough or fountain. The bronze is dark brown in colour with a greenish patina in places.
