Huge companyies are encouraging their employees to apply for SNAP because they don’t pay them enough to survive.

I want mutual aid to be a practice of sharing of resources that sustains us and lifts people up…
..but I want basic income so that there isn’t a perpetual state of need they’re forced to navigate

They deserve the fairness of and autonomy of income security.
they deserve to not always be in need.

Or if you are chasing material needs without cash involved, you’re spending tons of labor tracking, connecting, sourcing, and coordinating a material that if you had money you could almost instantly buy.

There’s many in need struggling to build security for the future, but burn through it too fast to survive through the present based on how incremental mutual aid and charity can be.

Because you’re chasing $20, $100, $5, $10, $200 over and over and over without any predictability.

We already see with gofundme how distribution becomes unfair and unjust

Thousands get ignored or barely slog to their goal while hundreds can catch fire and exceed expectations.

The need is too great. I don’t think the numbers add up for individuals to find stability unless a commitment of security is being offered by a strong secure group of individuals to make and keep someone who to the point they break through their lower class.

Mutual aid is an absolutely important tool for community care and instills a practice of collective care disrupting individualism

But it’s not sustainable unless it becomes massively mainstream in practice and massive upper class start distributing to many many individuals.
