So much potential. Some of the connections are tight and we've just missed an hourly service and spent 55 mins on the platform. Not viable to trek into town and 'The Pig' outside wasn't worth bothering with when we last went

OOPS! Got things the wrong way around I think: Schedule cycling weekends when The Trent isn't in flood and schedule pub weekends for when the roads are underwater & impassable. Even the towpath disappeared 🚴🌧️

Two carriages showed up Friday afternoon. Nowhere near enough capacity and as you say, zero charging points. They've introduced buy before you board or risk a penalty fare but obligations in terms of service (should) work both ways.

After a few years I managed a visit last year and got a very friendly reception. Really good ambience

Always one way for me and I get the train back but it's backfired occasionally when the train is so overcrowded I can't get on. Compare it to Germany where you see an entire coach dedicated to bikes. Sometimes I've left a bike locked at York station a month or more but luckily got away with it

Much better! I've cycled along there quite a bit. Hopefully when the weather improves I'll head out to Wishbone Brewery along the towpath (train back of course!)

Braver than me. I know it sounds irrational but I've got a phobia about cows having been chased by them near Alton Towers! I was pushing my bike through a field, had to drop the bike and leg it over the wall. Then wait ages for them to move to the far side to retrieve it🤣
