In the CODAME ART+TECH universe, a new year is more than a date — it is a creative threshold. A moment to pause, to begin again, and to imagine what’s possible. We enter this year guided by intention: choosing inquiry over answers, experimentation over certainty, and community over isolation. We believe the future is not something we wait for — it is something we actively practice, together. CODAME is artist-driven, practice-centered, and collectively imagined. In 2026, CODAME returns with its most expansive and participatory Festival yet. Centered around the theme The New Human, this edition explores how bodies, minds, cultures, technologies, and communities merge into new, hybrid possibilities. The New Human is not a fixed definition — it is a living inquiry. A way of asking how the future is shaped not by machines alone, but by the entangled traces of humanity itself: memory, language, biology, emotion, and code. The Program Creative Hackathon (March 6–7, 2026 · Milan) A focused, collaborative moment where artists and technologists prototype, experiment, and unlock imaginative directions around The New Human. Milano Art Week & Milano Design Week (April 13–26, 2026) Hackathon outcomes evolve into public experiences — exhibitions, performances, rituals, and conversations that blur disciplines and invite wonder. Global Creative Encounters Follow-up gatherings in San Francisco and Shanghai, extending the Festival across geographies and strengthening global creative exchange. We are all artists. Hackathons bring creativity, play, and technology together, creating ideas, energy, connection, and culture that spread widely.

This hack project gained traction and we showcased it at Dreamforce in San Francisco. I was thrilled to share it with our CEO, Marc Benioff.

JR, an artist known for his public works, photographed our hack as part of his event documentation. I’d love to see that photo someday.

Years ago, during a hackathon with my team at Salesforce, we decided to use LEGOs to simulate a Smart City using our IoT Cloud Platform in 2017. It started as a playful idea, a way to visualize connected devices communicating through Salesforce data in real time. This fun hack project quickly gained attention. Our project was later showcased at Dreamforce in San Francisco, where I had the chance to share the experience with our CEO, Marc Benioff , who stopped by to see it in action. And there was another surreal moment I’ll never forget JR, the artist known for his monumental public works, captured a photo of our hack as part of his documentation of the event. I would be thrilled to see the photo he took of our hack one day! It was the perfect reminder of what hackathons can spark: when creativity, play, and technology intersect, they don’t just generate ideas, they create energy, connection, and culture that spreads far beyond the room.

In 2017, during a Salesforce hackathon, we had a fun idea to use LEGOs to create a Smart City simulation with our IoT Cloud Platform. We visualized connected devices chatting with Salesforce data in real time.
