As announced this morning, the Education and Training Act will be changed so that School Boards will no longer be required to "give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including by working to ensure that its plans, policies, and local curriculum reflect local tikanga Mãori, matauranga Mãori, and te ao Mãori" The changes will be introduced to Parliament this afternoon and passed before the end of the year. It is part of ACT's Coalition Agreement to make Educational Achievement the primary objective of school boards. Our future needs every taxpayer dollar spent on education to realise its full value. Focusing education on actual achievement is a critical part of that. Thank you to everyone who's supported ACT in this work.
