Very keen amateur naturalist, conservationist and rewilder. I love the natural world and all life, from plants and fungi and insects to sharks and blue whales. I have a close affinity to East Africa, it's wildlife and peoples. Do you share my passions?

BAD NEWS! Should the swift brick vote have taken place earlier today we would have won. Tories whipped YES but by the time of the vote, support had gone home just like 2 years ago. It is an AGONISING reality. Tell your MP & steve.reed.mp@parliament.uk what you think. GUTTED.

1/2 Hounds in the garden just now, on the trail of some poor fox.
This is still the reality of "trail hunting" in North Dorset in 2025.
I put so much effort into making this place a sanctuary for wildlife.

By reintroducing keystone species, such as beavers, and allowing rivers to flow more naturally, we can help secure a future for brown trout – and countless other species that depend on healthy waterways.

The brown trout is a true icon of Britain’s rivers and lakes 🐟

Today, as a coldwater species, climate change poses an ever-growing threat to its future. However, there is hope for this powerful predator.

The shame of living where moving from Environment Sec. to Housing Sec. is seen as a promotion.

The double shame of living where the integrity of our politicians shift according to the labels written on their office door.

Remind your local MP: With no Nature, there’s no roof that can shelter them.

"When nature suffers, we suffer. And when nature flourishes, we all flourish."

Dr. Jane understood that, and she worked to ensure we understood, too. She felt that animals, people, and the environment could thrive together – but each of us would have to do our part.

Dr. Jane always said that each animal matters – not only for the role they play to support life, but for their intrinsic value.

"The least I can do is speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves," she said.

Great appeal here to protect a fantastic ancient woodland in Buckinghamshire. I've just walked through this landscape – the ancient royal hunting forest of Bernwood is being bisected by HS2 – and it is a magical area. Good luck @bbowt.bsky.social! www.bbowt.org.uk/news/wildlif...

I’m sad to hear the news that the wonderful Jane Goodall is no longer in the world. Her work with chimpanzees at Gombe in Tanzania taught us to look at other apes - and ourselves - differently. I was privileged to meet her later in life and tell her what an inspiration she was to me.
