Have you read Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor? This one's description reminded me of that- haunting, unlike any story I'd read before, and deeply religious (spiritual?).

It's so beautiful! And the story was quite moving.

I actually like it as an intro into critical bible reading- seeing how the gospels contradict and copy each other helps students understand that they were written by humans, with sources and interests and stuff. But I check out when it gets too intricate. The whole Q debate feels absurd to me.

Interesting! My flight in November from Dublin to Boston and back was almost full; but after the latest news from the US, I'd not travel there in the foreseeable future.

I always have a small stuffed animal in my backpack. Started when I went to my first conference abroad, super nervous and not used to traveling anymore after COVID; my husband hid a small piglet in my backpack. Made me smile&feel less alone. It's a cherished ritual now.

I love that and I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who's having ...unique ways of dealing with conferences.

I yearn to read more comics by women*! So sick of all the sexualised female characters everywhere.

I'm terrified I'll leave some important document at home - my paper, the letter of Invitation, info about my hotel, my passport... So I'll obsess over it all so much that i might actually remember it all, including the badge. Probably. But until I'm there, the stress levels are through the roof.

Clouds at the southern edge of the Alps. Very different from my lowland home; much icier and wispier, all blurry and feathery. Even had some sun dogs! Lovely round rainbowy spots in the clouds.

Interestingly, this isn't true in German; we don't use "gothic" that way, mostly it's just the descriptor of the building style, and (if people know it at all) mostly associated with churches reaching high into the sky, thin pillars, complicated windows etc.

I'm not even sure it's mask for me. Rather,.I experience it as a lot of adaptation, mimicry, copying others and trying to facilitate successful communication. Exhausting but still very much part of me, not something I can take off.

We have hedgehogs visiting the garden!! This is big. We're living in a city, our garden is tiny, and the best I can do is let it go as wild as possible and add some water stations. And it works! We've got lots of insects, birds, red squirrels, a cute mouse - and hedgehogs. So chuffed.

Does anyone have resources thstn xplain anxiety? I've always thought it's only about panic attacks and since I thankfully don't have those, I thought I couldn't have anxiety, but I'm not sure anymore b/c I'm anxious a lot.

Früher war Shinjuku mein Endgegner, letztes Jahr fand ich Shibuya viel schlimmer, da wurde viel dazu gebaut. Hab oft kaum den Ausgang gefunden... In Kyoto fand ich's ok, da sind Bahnhof und Shopping Centers einigermaßen getrennt voneinander.

Jepp, das ist korrekt und macht die Orientierung sehr schwer. Man sucht einen Ausgang und ist auf einmal in einem Einkaufszentrum.

The sky has been beautiful in the last days. Two gorgeous cumulus clouds and a rainbow!
Also, is it unusual to use the scientific names of clouds? My very smart friend was surprised when I talked abt cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds.
