What does the future of Britainโs railways look like? I saw it for myself at York Station๐
From complex signalling to tough weather and busy routes, apprentices get hands on, high tech training that builds real confidence. ๐ฎ๐ง๏ธ
York has been at the heart of the railways and it will continue to be.๐ช

We all need to think about how social media is shaping our childrenโs lives. ๐ญ๐ฑ
But donโt just take my word for it.
After convening a consultation in York, I gathered reflections from a parent, a former teacher, and a therapeutic counsellor who works with children.
Here are their thoughts.๐ฃ๏ธ

Luke stood by Woody who is sat down, on a lead smiling with a church and village in the background.
Today is Love Your Pet Day, and I've given Woody, Pretzel, and Basil extra treats.
Pets are family, and that's why I've supported reforms for more transparent and fair vet bills.
I discussed with the York Press how this will ease unexpected costs for families, allowing them to focus on pet care.๐ถ

Inspired by Yorkโs amazing teachers!
Weโre so lucky to have the National STEM Learning Centre at the University of York, training the teachers of tomorrow. In a world full of change, maths, science, tech, and engineering skills matter more than ever! ๐ฅผ๐งฎ

Yesterday, I brought together constituents, parents, grandparents, carers who work with children, Professor Lisa Henderson, Head of Psychology at the University of York, and Peter Roderick from the City of York Council to share their thoughts on social media.
A huge thanks to all who came along. ๐ฌ๐ฒ

Had a brilliant visit to Network Rail in York! ๐
Great to see the next generation of rail pros being trained right here in the heart of our city.
I even tried a train simulatorโฆ letโs just say any Yorkshire Tea on board wouldnโt have survived my braking! ๐ซ

We are so lucky in York to have so much on our doorstep, and in some cases on our buildings thanks to the commemorative plaques placed by York Civic Trust.
It was brilliant to visit the Trust and Fairfax House this week. A huge thank you to the dedicated staff and volunteers who do so much.

What a night for York Knights!
Opening Super League with a win over reigning champions Hull KR. One of the biggest upsets youโll see.
With the Knights flying and York City pushing for promotion, itโs a brilliant time to be a sports fan in York. ๐ต๐ก

Every football fan knows itโs time the National League had three promotion spots, not just the #ycfc fan in me.
Proud to back #3UP with Paul Waugh. One of Rochdale or York will miss out on automatics & I hope itโs not us!

Reformโs been mysteriously quiet about their DOGE work recently.
Maybe itโs because theyโve spent:
๐

Reform have no answers.
Ask them how theyโll rebuild the NHS.
Ask them how theyโll lower bills.
Ask them how theyโll build homes.
Youโll only hear slogans, blame, and outrage, because they have nothing else. They are simply:
Turquoise Tories.

The expansion of 30 hours of funded childcare is a game-changing step forward for families ๐ถโจ
However the funded hours kick in the term after the child turns 9 months old. This means some children may be even 13 months old before they get their funded hours, which I highlighted in Parliament ๐๐ฃ

The student loan misselling scandal?
Labour inherited a student loan system designed by the Tories that can only be described as โFrankensteinโs monsterโ.
I raised Plan 2 loans in Parliament, for the millions of graduates fed up of paying the price of a poor Tory era policy.
