A little Sky Country WIP

Thank you! It has been some weeks of squinting reaally hard at the source material haha

Aand a sketch version just in case, since I know the silly Ghibli filter was Eeeverywhere for a while, but this is good old fashioned style study

Been wanting to study the Ghibli animation style for a while, by doing a few animated stills from Pride & Prejudice, and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it!

I remember someone talking about the energy load of generative art tools and someone started trying to retort like “yeah but a human artist also drinks water and eats food so they have an even bigger carbon footprint per piece” as though they stop needing food and water when they aren’t drawing.

It's just so easy to get caught up in the tight deadlines, hierarchies and having to hand in things that aren't Quite Right, sometimes you just have to make sure to choose that this is a Fun Thing! And we're making it together!

Animation can be a tough industry with intense work and not the best pay in the world, but as I'm coming up on my 6th year doing this it's still so important to me to always try to make any project into a Fun Thing We're Making Together

We're looking for existing or new illustrations and short comics (max 3 pages) for a digital fundraiser zine to support East African LGBTQIA+ refugees build a home in South Sudan.
