Went to my first ever wrestling show and they had a toxic yaoi plotline? Everyone was yelling 'kiss kiss kiss' while the goth and the jock were breaking up their situationsship during a death match? Incredible

Turns out the best motivator I have for doing visual development is a) making my Documents and b) getting a little silly with it so I'm doing a series of silly Guards! Guards! illustrations to prepare for the Trailer Project

Close up on an acrylic painting on black canvas. It shows a ghostly tree emerging from the shadows. A pair of eyes is looking at the viewer from between the branches.

Been wanting to study the Ghibli animation style for a while, by doing a few animated stills from Pride & Prejudice, and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it!

Image description: Digitally drawn and coloured comic page.

Panel 1: A redheaded teenager in a white jumper is placing a crate of supplies on another crate. He says, to Granny: "Still no sign of any Heartland ships. Supplies are running a bit low.

Panel 2. Closeup of Grannys profile. She is not looking in the boys direction, as she says, almost to herself: "No ship for a season? That's trouble."

Panel 3: Granny turns towards the 'camera', as the voice off-panel says "The Ting decided that we will send a courier ship to them. You know, find out if they are in trouble, or if they need some help?"

Panel 4: The boys dialogue fades out, as we close up on Grannys eyes, now turned back towards the horizon.

Panel 5: Flashback to the first page of Granny & The Gull - ships with people dressed in blue and white disappearing over the horizon.

Panel 6: Flashback to the first page of Granny & The Gull. A young Granny holding a lantern, looking after the ships.

Panel 7: In a winter setting, an older granny is in the same position - holding the lantern, overlooking the sea. It's snowing.

Panel 8: We return to present day - Granny, now an old woman, looks over the waves. Clouds are getting darker.

Panel 1: Closeup of the panel from the previous page. Granny still has her back turned to the camera. "Granny!", a voice insists. "Flowers!". A pot of blue flowers is held up by someone off-panel.

Panel 2: Wide shot of the beach. Granny takes the flowers from Agnes, while saying "Right! The wind is changing. You two need to get home." The boy says "Alright!"

Panel 3: The boy cheerfully says "I'll just get the crates to your door-"

Panel 4: Granny interrupts the boy, looking serious and stern. Saying, "No! The water could get-"

Panel 5: Granny interrupts herself, noticing something.

Panel 6: Granny points to the boys light whiskers, suddenly asking: "What IS that on your face."

I remember someone talking about the energy load of generative art tools and someone started trying to retort like โ€œyeah but a human artist also drinks water and eats food so they have an even bigger carbon footprint per pieceโ€ as though they stop needing food and water when they arenโ€™t drawing.

It's just so easy to get caught up in the tight deadlines, hierarchies and having to hand in things that aren't Quite Right, sometimes you just have to make sure to choose that this is a Fun Thing! And we're making it together!

Animation can be a tough industry with intense work and not the best pay in the world, but as I'm coming up on my 6th year doing this it's still so important to me to always try to make any project into a Fun Thing We're Making Together

An illustration of two lesbian ghosts dancing. The left hand ghost wears a 1760s silk sack gown, the right hand wears an early 1500s style gown with puffed sleeves and a short cape with feathered beret. They are both blue and translucent.

They are in a heavily wooded and overgrown graveyard, a lone candle burning with a blue flame sits on top of a slab grave beneath them.

The illustrated border shows as follows: On top, clasping carved stone hands emerging from yew branches with berries. To the sides: tin lanterns with candles burning, carved stone hourglasses & carved stone broken columns. Beneath: Vaults based upon the Circle of Lebanon at Highgate Cemetery flanked by trees.
