Yeah, it won't be happening again and I can feel it!

I just had to move runs about a bit as I'm stuck in a car for a couple of days this weekend 😬

Got up at an entirely unreasonable hour (it started with a 5 FFS) to fit in a long run before work.

It's now 2:30pm and I need a long nap. My watch hates me.

65 running miles in 7 days in a shuffled schedule of #marathon #training before a long road trip this weekend.

Next run? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 on Monday.

We seem to be ticking off pretty much the same sort of long runs and weekly mileage, at roughly the same kind of stage in our training. Good luck with the rest of your plan!

Treated the old #marathon #training legs to 6x800m today, which was I was a bit apprehensive about after a long run on Sunday but it was probably a good bit of variety that shook off any residual fatigue.

30+ hours to recover before an easy 8-miler tomorrow evening.

Ooooh. A local record shop has just received a restock of an *all-time classic* album from my "must own on vinyl" list.

Streaming it now and offity-oof it's *so* good. Not a single piece of filler in my opinion.

The lows and highs of #marathon training.

The low was a hill session which totally knocked the wind out of my sails. It'll benefit me in the end but it was a 9/10 difficulty 🥵

The high this evening was buying yet another pair of @inov8.bsky.social trail shoes, as all this training is adding up.

To be fair, it did get shared equally among four of us, but the daughter in charge of single cream delivery managed to pour half the carton into my bowl. I took that for the team.

Delicious stuff. The sort of fodder that leaves you shuddering with sugar sweats before you're even halfway through.

Thirty-one runs into this #marathon #running #training and I've hit every goal: pace, distance, intensity.

Downside is that this has coincided with my body deciding it needs to consume a metric ton of chocolate to fuel this activity.

Yesterday's main calorific culprit was this beautiful bastard.

I whizzed through Dept. Q ( #Netflix ) in two days.

Some of the best pacing in a crime thriller you'll ever see.

Highly recommended.

Option 1 was the winner. Felt very comfortable until mile 13 when the humidity started to drain me a bit.

Could really do with a thunderstorm to clear things so I can get a real feel for how this training is stacking up.

Still failing to drop pace to 10 min per mile.

This is the first year where both kids have been at secondary school and I've realised that a big benefit of this is that today (last day of term) I don't have a mountain of art and craft crap* to discretely dispose of over the next few weeks.

*obviously lovingly designed and executed. But still.

My long run options this weekend both look lousy.

Saturday: 89% humidity, no wind but dry
Sunday: 96% humidity, breezy and wet

I'm kind of edging toward #1 🤔

8 reps of "The Punisher" which were more consistent than expected and I picked up the Local Legend status as part of the package 😎

I've only just seen them both. The second was an absolute twatting of a hit. Fantastic stuff.

One step forward and four steps back with this training plan.

The forward step was a solid interval session this morning, hitting all target paces and feeling good.

Backwards steps included the two-portion pasta and meatballs for dinner.

And the Mint Cornetto.

And Wispa Bites.

And Hobnobs.

Peroni 0.0%.

Acceptable. Maybe a 6/10.

I *really* like Ten but this one is just better all round for me. Pretty big changes in what they wrote in the two-year gap between the two release dates.

Maybe I prefer Unplugged in some ways, but this is certainly my favourite studio album of theirs.
